So one of my preferred ways of conversing is voice notes. I'm a massive fan and I state it on my profile.
Weither that's after initial text communication on here, leading onto voice noting on WhatsApp or from a different site.
However there seems to be so many people against them.
Now I know there inconvenient if your around company, and I'm not talking about the voice note been over 4 minutes long, just a general minute or two. But why's there a reluctancy against them.
Surely if you meet someone on a website your going to eventually need to video call or normal call them, before you meet. And it also saves people misinterpreting texts or not quite understanding them properly.
Also if you don't like to converse over voicenotes, do you find that general conversation, when you meet someone struggles to either keep you interested or lacks that so called clout to intrigue you to find out more.
Interested to here your thoughts.

I don’t mind them. If they’re long I listen on 1.5x speed. If I’m out I put the phone to my ear like I’m on the phone so it plays quietly through the top speaker as if I’m on the phone. And yeah. What’s not to like. |

I really like it, It took me a long time to start and then it became normal.
Especially for people on here , When you are in the getting to know them stage after the FAB messaging stage.
I get a lot of people voice noting me back saying I’ve never done this before but through me voice messaging them first, they gave it a go back and really liked it.
Once you get over the sound of your own voice it’s fine. |

Detest them.
Most people I know that send them back and forth between each other which seems pointless, I always tell them that if can't be said in a text message then call me other than that don't bother. |

I dated a guy last year who would always voicenote. Even like, ten second stuff like “just parking, be there in five mins.”
It didn’t work for me because I don’t really ever use headphones. And I didn’t want to listen to his messages in the office or in public on speaker. |

"I'm not a fan of them. I just feel under pressure talking into a device and putting my thoughts together that way so my stutter comes out something awful "
There’s an AI app to remove all hesitation and stutter from audio and video. It does a decent job, lots of YouTubers use it |

I love voice notes and use them all the time.
I get they aren't for everyone and some of my friends have no filter but they are great.
I don't often move people to WhatsApp on here unless I'm planning to meet them. I've got two fab friends who have gorgeous voices so voice notes with them are a joy. |

I find them pointless most of the time. Unless you need to tell me something that’s going to take too long to type, just send a text.
I can’t be bothered deleting a voice note to restart because my mind has went blank or I’ve started stuttering like an idiot half way through either. |

It's fantastic to see so many different opinions on this subject.
Like I say in my original post, they have always along with calling my preferred method of contact. It's nice to know I'm not the only one.

I like voicenotes.
I've introduced and encouraged a fair few to send voicenotes over the years because I like hearing another's voice - it's far easier for me to understand tone, general mood etc.
I don't think there's a correlation between disliking sending them and being quiet in person. For some people they just don't work.
They're quite a self indulgent thing aren't they? Let's be honest. |

I do voice notes with my kids when they're at their mums because it gets some information out of them. Texts are brief and oddly, phone calls are laborious. Voice notes however seem to generate some decent conversation.

Ooh I love a voice note!
Saves typing out my war and peace messages, and I can waffle on about anything, probably to the point the recipient was wishing they were deaf!
They can be good fun, especially the more,erm... cough..you know fruiter messages

I’m happy with text or voice note.
Sometimes voice note is easier for me.
It also works as a great filter. If someone is still interested in me after listening to me going off on a tangent, waffling or getting overexcited about something - they’re a keeper |

Not quite the same thing, but there's a text to voice option on my tablet.
I use that sometimes and listen to the AI generated voice when looking at a profiles here with really long bio write ups. |

I’m not a fan. Im rarely entirely on my own so I can’t listen to them anyway and I don’t use headphones.
I have a preference for written words and I understand it better that way so please text me instead. |

I can't listen to them in work so they get ignored during my 12 hour days. Telegram premium has speech to text so that's quite useful. And if they're longer than a minute then I get annoyed too.
But despite all that sometimes I quite like getting them.
I don't like leaving them because I often lose my train of thought halfway through.

I don't listen to them. And tell the people that leave them i don't listen to them.
I don't like them. Why not just make a call instead? Or call back? What do you need to say that is so urgent you need to leave a message.?
Having said that, if they work for some people. Well that's great for them. Just think it's another example of tech creating comms problems more than it fixes them. One way traffic isn't communicating. |
