I recently re read all the Dune books. Sadly they weren’t as good as I remembered them from years ago.
I also rewatched the Dune movie, the one with Kyle McLaughlin. It’s pretty bad.
I will however, try the latest Dune films, fingers crossed!
I’m just rereading all the HitchHikers Guide books, I’m currently in book 6, and enjoying them all!

"Currently on "Braver men walk away" by Peter gurney a bomb disposal expert
That sounds absolutely fascinating "
Can't recommend it enough, worked as the met police bomb lead during the troubles and on some of the biggest bomb attacks London saw.
Really well written in an engaging and lighter hearted way that makes a very heavy topic very palatable |

Oh by the way everyone. I recently read A River in Darkness: One Man's Escape from North Korea by Masaji Ishikawa. He is Half-Korean, Half Japanese. His father moved the family to North Korea from Japan in the 1960s. Was told a lot of bullshit about how utopia it was, he went through hell, survived the famine that killed millions in the 90s and escaped to Japan.
I highly recommend the memoir. |

"I am half way through reading the first Dune book. How about everyone else?"
I've recently re listened to this while at work on Audible. I think its such a great novel but I really love the changes that the new movies have made. |

"Was recommended Legend by David Gemmell, by someone from fab, just finished it today, and really enjoyed it, about to start the next in the series. "
The whole Druss the Legend saga is such brilliant fun fantasy. I need to find a epub version of this to re read them. |

Yeah, everyone is talking about how a 3rd Dune movie would be a slam duck but the problem is that Dune Messiah I'd actually a very slow paced rather dull book spending more time examining the triangle of Paula, Cheynae and Princess I, not really a seat filler story. |

I'm bouncing between working my way through the "new" Wheel of Time books by Brian and actually really loving the changes the TV show made to the original books. Have a theory very happy to talk about with people message me..
Other saga is the Riftwar by Feist and just listened to Magician.
Unfortunately feel its not his re-released versions as some details missing so will have to go back am read it proper.
When watching the LOTR extended version and the BTS stuff learned Chissy Lee read that once a year every year for about 40 years, I couldn't do that but I probably have read Magician once a year for last 15-20 and still never tire of it. |

It's been years since I was into fantasy. Terru Goodkind I think was the last I read. But I feel I'm ready to get back on the horse! All recs considered! |

"Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman"
I have him reading it on Audible and his voice is Golden Liquid Silk.
Is he a trained voice actor or just a true God-given-talent of a storyteller?
His role as the narrator in the American God's audiobook was also a dream |

I tried to get into Terry's books and the disc world stuff and some of it it's good but the majority of it really doesn't work for me so I'm sorry (and know this will be a more unpopular opion than Kate can bugger off and be replaced with Megan as she had better tits) but Pratchet is overrated and not worth the idoliseation his fans give. |

Oh bugger me you said Goodkind not Pratchet.
Yeah the Sword of Truth books are great for journeys and easy reading but somehow just don't hit the right notes to take them into the same sphere and Feist and Jordan |

"Unruly by David Mitchell a comic look at all the kings and queens of Britain.
Britain or England?
Gbat "
Since Wales has never had a King not nor is it represented on the Union Jack the differentiation between Britain (England and Wales) and England in regards to the monarchy is totally redundant. Even more so since the highest heralded appointment for Wales is the Prince of Wales which is just really the Heir Apparent to the English throne.
Once the Throne of Scotland (Great Britain is England, Wales & Scotland) and Ireland/Ulster (The United Kingdom is the GB + NI + The 20 odd held territories) was held and retained by a single monarch they became the Monarch of the United Kingdom
In short the King/Queen of England has always been the K/Q of Britain and vice versa |

Empire of the Summer Moon by SC Gwynne. It’s about the Comanche Native Americans and their last true chief Quanah Parker. Unbelievable and occasionally brutal read that’s also being made into a film so apparently |

Just finished Daniel Sloss - ‘Everyone you hate is going to die..’ - funny read.
Audiobook wise I’m listening to ‘The body keeps the score’ but it’s heavy going at times so I’m taking plenty of breaks |

Coming to the end of The Fraud by Zadie Smith. It'll have to be a particularly remarkable last 50 or so pages to make it to the top of my favourites of hers but it is a fascinating exploration of the human capacity for deception (of the self and others) and the limits of self-awareness.
Reminds me a bit of the Vonnegut quote: "We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful what we pretend to be." |

Yeah it is good. I recommend reading the book. As gives you a better understanding of the movie. |
