I don’t ask this. I’d probably ask if you are in a relationship depending on context of our conversation but why would I ask anything else? |

It's often less about seeing if they're available for more, and more about seeing how much self awareness they have about why they're single, and how comfortable they are with that. And also to check there's no current emotional baggage that's s going to result in post nut clarity crying, or self pity, or a psycho ex sending me abuse. |

potential reasons
1. indirect compliment - oh my god you're so amazing I can't believe no one has snatched you up
2. they suspect you're in a relationship and lying about it
3. they're one of those weirdos (usually older) who try to pressure everyone around them to have kids. (you have kids, great, you do you, but that's as personal a decision for you as it is for everyone around you!) |

Never on here over text, but I do get asked those things by people I meet IRL (both from here and otherwise).
Social events with work colleagues springs to mind as the place it'll most commonly occur. |

I normally get told 'I'm surprised you are single' every now and again, although there can be various reasons behind it. Haha although I just typically respond saying I haven't found anyone desperate enough yet :L |
