Today is a solemn and important day for millions of people across the globe, reflecting and commemorating the crucifixion. Whatever your faith or beliefs, lets wish everyone a life filled with goodness and hapiness.
However, the purpose of the thread is to ask everyone their thoughts on forgiveness and redemption in a totally non religious context. Can you, have you done both? How easy do you find it, or not. Were you the recipient of that yourself? Obviously only share if appropriate. |

Forgiveness is more about healing yourself than healing the other person. There's an attitude of a person not being worthy of forgiveness but the longer we hold on to hate, the longer that person hurts us. Acknowledge it, learn from it, forgive but don't forget. |

I agree with this for the most part, but there is a caveat for me. There is someone in our past that I cannot and will never forgive. It’s not hate, and I’m not the kind of person to hold grudges. This however, was so wilfully vicious and destructive that I will never be able to find it within myself to forgive. Xx |

This in large part but sometimes for our own safety/ peace we also don't. Can depend on the other person's intentions & remorse too. Any of the options below & more that bring us peace not bitterness;
Forgive but not forget
Forgive & forget
Forget but will never forgive
