If you can find it, "The red turtle". Or it's French/ beligian title "la torte rouge".

It's an animation, without a single word of dialogue. But it's so original.

Fucking beautiful film.

Depends what you have available and if you have a go at some of the foreign language series. Theres a heck of a lot on Netflix and I think channel 4 app still has access to some.

BBC4 used to be great for things like spiral but I don’t know if they still have the content

Naked with David Thewlis. It's Mike Leigh so I guess pretty famous although I don't know many who have seen it.

Good if you like genres that are pretty bleak!

Interesting. I can’t recall the Italian mafia series Netflix had, but it was quite gritty

BBC4 had inspector Montalbano which was generally quite light but a few mentions of mafia stuff and a couple of episodes that were really good about a mafia don

I watched the Spanish comedy Accion Mutante when it first came out 30 years ago, and picked it up on Blu-ray last year. In the future, a band of mutants (regarded as disabled/lower-class by a fascist government) violently rebel against the upper-crust of society. When an abduction goes wrong and Stockholm Syndrome sets, in, all hell breaks loose.

It was a riot then, and still pretty damn funny these days, with pertinent satire which might be even more relevant today. Given the budget and the FX resources available at the time, that they achieved something as ambitious and of this scale is a minor miracle.
