Hi fabbers, welcome to the virtual fabbers book club.
I love this thread, it is so interesting seeing how diverse we are!
What book are you currently reading, or just finished? Did you like it, would you recommend it?
What have you got lined up next? |

Currently reading The Virgin Suicides. I'm enjoying it but it feels like a concentrating sort of book and life has been a bit much for that the last week. I might try to find something fluffy until I have the brain space.

Next on the list is either 100 years of solitude or Dune. I’ll coin toss it. |

"Chimp paradox , blows my mind as literally describes me inside out .
I didn't get very far with that "
I think if you read it trying to find answers about your self rather than people it’s a little easier . Scared me to realise what a chimp I am lol x |

I've just finished One Day by David Nicholls.
I really enjoyed it, made me cry at times. It appealed to my hopeless romantic side.
I'm now reading The Northern Clemency, by Philip Hensher. So far, so good. |

One of the best fiction books I've ever read is "three hours" by Rosamund Lupton.
Non fiction: "Human Kind" by Rutger Bregman.
Those two I recommend to everyone.
I've struggled to find books I'm really into recently.
"The once and future witches" is probably my favourite of late.

"Norse mythology by Neil Gaiman
You ever read American Gods? My favourite book."
I have, I'm Gaiman fan, more of his work in comics to be honest...also read Anansi boys, which I think might be a kind of prequel or, maybe sequel to American Gods
Other than that, I'm currently rereading Ghost Story by Peter Straub

It's very good, Nero. But from 2016 so some of his Russia analysis looks a bit out of date, sadly...

Back on the fiction and reading Trio by William Boyd. Always love his stuff. |

Another favourite - Lady Venom takes a mistress - FF fantasy short read but amazing.

I’ve just finished Haunting Adeline and Hunting Adeline by H.D Carlton. Couldn’t put either of them down (excusing the little 2 hour break I had to take during ‘Hunting’ when it got a bit deep) would thoroughly recommend!
An FYI that all of my reading recommendations will be smut filled none of that 50 shades shite either! |

I’ve just finished The Girls Who Disappeared which was for my actual book club. Slow going tbh but an ok read.
I’m now reading Twisted Hate by Ana Huang, I’ve read the books before this one. They’re smutty but good smutty.
I’m a big fan of Lorenzo Carcaterra and Jonathan Kellerman and I love a bit of Stephen King. Normally I stick to true crime or detective mystery type stuff. Although I did recently read four Nicholas Sparks books.

Aww such a shame there is no more Discworld.
Mort is still my favourite"
It is a shame. Mort is my fav too, it was the first Discworld book I read when I was about 10, and I still love it as much as the first time I read it! |

Ooooh no I haven’t, is it worth adding to the list? I’ve just been recommended ‘Black Sheep’ by Harlowe & Weaver which gives me Adeline vibes just a role reversal! |

"I'm re-reading The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern. I find it utterly enchanting and beautiful, even the second time round. I've never read anything like it."
Oh it's beautiful isn't it? I reread it annually, truly magical and so atmospheric. There have been threats of it becoming a film which I would hate. Maybe if Guillermo Del Toro directed it it'll be fine. |

I've been working my way through from book 1 for a while now. Currently half way through Unseen Academicals. I've read them all multiple times but I'm surprised how well I remember the earlier books than the later books.
On to the biographies when I'm done. But it does make me rather sad to think about it.

I'm reading Corpus by Rory Clements, I'm near the end and have mixed feelings. The prose is fine and I've enjoyed the historical setting (England 1939). The espionage/politics is handled well but it's getting a little bit like a TV show near the end. Motorbikes, damsel in distress, guns. Shame but I'll try the next in the series as the good has outweighed the bad. |

Men in Love by Nancy Friday. First read it in my 20’s, it’s about in the subject of love rather than being emotionally attached. Pseudo Psychology Read, about how men are affected by their upbringing in terms of sex. It lists Guys fantasies over a range of topics, do, basically, porn |

Listening definitely counts. I know some people can be a bit snooty about not physically reading a book, but if you're absorbing information it shouldn't matter what format it's in. |

My purchased and downloaded books are played at 1.50 speed and this week are:
1) a repeat of Carol Godyer Gravitas. Listened to it 3 times, but it’s very good.
2) I thought it was just me, by Brene Brown
3) Mans Search for Meaning, Victor Frankel. I’ve been pushing this back for a while on audible. I fear what it may do to my soul.
4) The power of your subconscious mind, Joseph Murphy.
Next weeks list is available if you kick this off next week.
