Hi fabbers, welcome to the virtual fabbers book club.

I love this thread, it is so interesting seeing how diverse we are!

What book are you currently reading, or just finished? Did you like it, would you recommend it?

What have you got lined up next?

Currently reading The Virgin Suicides. I'm enjoying it but it feels like a concentrating sort of book and life has been a bit much for that the last week. I might try to find something fluffy until I have the brain space.

One of the best fiction books I've ever read is "three hours" by Rosamund Lupton.

Non fiction: "Human Kind" by Rutger Bregman.

Those two I recommend to everyone.

I've struggled to find books I'm really into recently.

"The once and future witches" is probably my favourite of late.

I'm reading Corpus by Rory Clements, I'm near the end and have mixed feelings. The prose is fine and I've enjoyed the historical setting (England 1939). The espionage/politics is handled well but it's getting a little bit like a TV show near the end. Motorbikes, damsel in distress, guns. Shame but I'll try the next in the series as the good has outweighed the bad.

My purchased and downloaded books are played at 1.50 speed and this week are:

1) a repeat of Carol Godyer Gravitas. Listened to it 3 times, but it’s very good.

2) I thought it was just me, by Brene Brown

3) Mans Search for Meaning, Victor Frankel. I’ve been pushing this back for a while on audible. I fear what it may do to my soul.

4) The power of your subconscious mind, Joseph Murphy.

Next weeks list is available if you kick this off next week.

Currently ready "What If 2" by Randall Munroe of XKCD.

It's a good light hearted look at physics answers to absurd questions

Excellent

Just finished Adrian Edmondson's book, funny and sad in equal measure.

Now reading about about the history of language and one about the Khmer rouge, that one's alot less joyful.

"Norse mythology by Neil Gaiman

You ever read American Gods? My favourite book.

I have, I'm Gaiman fan, more of his work in comics to be honest...also read Anansi boys, which I think might be a kind of prequel or, maybe sequel to American Gods

Other than that, I'm currently rereading Ghost Story by Peter Straub

"

His adaptation of Sandman on Audible is brilliant

"am i allowed to join as i dont read but i listen to loads when im drawing and running as i have slight adhd and i cant concentrate on reading , but definatley love listening

I only listen to audio books - they are great for when I'm out and about... Definitely counted as i started the thread "

I tend to listen to audibooks more when it's factual stuff and read more when it's fiction
