My dad has a little place up in the hills in the south of France, near the Dordogne river. It's absolutely beautiful. A little 4 bed cottage, pool in the garden, proper laid back little village in the sun.
Last time I was over there I walked through the village square at around 9am one morning. One of the locals had been to the bakery, and was sitting in the cafe dunking his croissant in a glass of red wine.
I could happily live out the rest of my days there |

I’d like to live in Spain. I’d also like to live in the US.
Spain because I think they’ve got this really laid-back attitude, and I love the food and the people that I’ve met there.
The US because some of the states just feel fantastic when you travel around. |

Yeah I think that’s the appeal, such a slower pace for sure. I think I’d rather visit, than live in the US. |

"I am not sure I would move for good but certainly have a place somewhere like Portugal or Greece for half of the year sounds nice. Good weather, food and people. "
I hadn’t thought of that, get the best of both worlds that way x. |

20 years ago we moved to Zakynthos, in the Ionian islands. Lived in the north east of the island, in a village close to the beach resort of Alykes, and a small town, Katastari, where we ran a bar. Our son went to the local Greek school, just as most of the English kids did and became fluent in Greek, which made it easier for us to learn the language. It was a very simple, but beautiful lifestyle.
It was supposed to be our forever home but various circumstances (mainly family) made us decide to come home just over a year later. I miss the warm climate, and I decided long ago that I won't spend my retirement in the UK. I've spent a lot of time in Italy over the past 10 years, so maybe somewhere in the south where it's warm all year round |

My 2 favourite places are Portugal + Hurghada.
My first thought would be Hurghada for all year sunshine, but life can sometimes feel hard work there. So in reality I'd probably pick Portugal and go on holiday to Hurghada in the winter months.
I'm thinking way to hard about this lol

Yes, I would.
I would go to the UK, because I feel my family is most culturally attuned to it, and we could get an ancestry visa and use that as a route to citizenship.
And we did! 20 years ago this June.

"I'd love to, I always wanted to move to Australia however finding health insurance became a huge block.

I don't know about the stuff while gaining the eligibility of residents etc, but for my entire life while living in Australia, I was insured by HCF. |

Pre-existing heart issues stopped most insurance even coming close to insuring me - I had the opportunity via work many years ago, just wasn't ment to be.

Fair. I do know for permanent residents and citizens, there's a limit on not insuring pre-existing conditions (usually a year). But it could well be more difficult if you're not yet in that category. |

I came back to the UK last year after a decade abroad. Absolutely loved it and got to visit places I never imagined I would.
Already thinking about leaving the UK again, as my job means it's quite easy to get work/visas in most countries. |

"France. I am learning French, so it may actually happen.
Beautiful country, Loire valley appeals to me. Good luck x "
Loire valley is where I discovered BDSM... it has a special place in my heart. But almost anywhere I've been to in France is beautiful. I lived and worked in a number of countries, love the UK, but I also like continental Europe. |

Alicante, Spain. (Sometimes in Wales) |
I live in Spain and I love it here. Some frustrating things around bureaucracy but worth the hassle.
I lived in Central Asia for 15 months but that was VERY different!

No, I don’t think I would, I was born in and have lived my whole life in a lovely part of the world, I know a few people who have emigrated, all but two have returned, the grass is not always as green as it first appears on the other side of the hedge. |

Very true, unfortunately those I know who have given it a go and then returned are all seriously worse of than they were before they left.
Reading the replies above many have had excellent experiences and are very glad they made the choices they did, so I’m not knocking anyone but I don’t think it’s for me. |

Iceland appeals to me.
As does Corsica.

I'm also a bit obsessed with finding small islands tucked out of the way and these look interesting.

Lampedusa
Kastri
Le Forna
Rathlin Island
New Caledonia

"I've lived in five different countries
Only four here. I think Botswana was the worst.
But beautiful for a visit!"
I'm sure, if you go to the Okavango or somewhere like that. We lived in Gaborone for a year, and didn't have the resources to go anywhere nice. Gaborone is a dump. Lol. |
