Congratulations! Embrace the new you and extra confidence it brings.

I lost 7 stone a couple of years ago. I’ve put 3 back on now but starting to eat better again.

I’ve lost 9lb this week so heading in the right direction again

Almost 6kg down since January.

Been using the mynetdiary app which has been excellent not just for tracking but managing recipes and shopping lists.

Hey OP, I'm on a weightloss journey.

It's bloody hard work. It's not just about losing weight though is it. It's about changing a whole mindset.

I've lost 5 stone in the last 6 months. No slimming world, jabs, NHS help or gym. Just pure grit and determination. My aim is for 9 stone by Xmas. As I've still got a fair bit to lose, been a big guy.

Well done on your weightloss and keep up the amazing work.

Thanks although your own efforts are considerably more impressive.

I tried myfitnesspal too but didn't get on so well with it. They're all a bit fiddly to use until you get them set up right. So useful to have.

Thank you OP but would you believe I can't see a difference, people say they can, but I can't.

I mean yeah I've dropped waist sizes and t-shirt sizes, yeah I've noticed in that. It's an expensive yet satisfying game.

I've still got loads to lose, but slow and steady wins the race. This time next year and all that jazz.

You keep up the good work too.

No ones efforts is more or less when it comes to weightloss as there are so many different factors that come into it.

They are a pain in the bum tbf... but I do find it makes me accountable and able to eat what I want.. rather than being tied to slimming world and sons (which is the biggest load of tosh)

I find a really good way if you can't see it and still have them is to lay an old pair of trousers on the floor and put your new ones on top.

I still look in the mirror sometimes and see the size 20/22 girl staring back at me.. I'm now a size 8/10

The joys of the human mind

Well done OP, that's amazing! I'm also on one. I've lost 6.5 stone since May 2022. Finally 6lbs away from my target so hopefully get there in the next couple of weeks. It's not easy though, it takes a total change in mindset towards food

Yeah I like that aspect too, especially when it gets to the evening and I still have calories in the bank and get to choose what I do with them. That doesn't happen most days mind

Also found it useful for seeing which nutrients are a bit deficient in our regular diet.

Yeah I'm trying to loose a few lbs, I've never been into calorie counting etc whenever I try to loose weight I cut portion sizes down and reduce high calorie drinks (the drinks are usually my issue)

Good luck.

Tell me about it... luckily I've had to go gluten free, so that's limited my options some what.

I think single figures I'd be too skinny.

It's mad how many calories can be hidden in alcohol.

I started with that approach in January but Ellen decided we needed to get serious

It's a bit tedious to begin with but tracking the quality of what we're eating has helped to put the focus on that rather than what we're not eating.

I've lost 50kg over the last 2 years, started with fixing my sleep schedule, then added cross country walking twice a day, that's now routine, do 5 miles a day. Researched diets and moved to a carnivore/keto diet, removing carbs and sugar and processed foods, though do have snacks on the weekend now and again. Added weights and calisthenics to my routine in November.

Almost have a flat stomach now, I fit into medium shirts, that's a first for me lol but like others have said, still feel fat sometimes.

Just got keep on the grind and you'll get where you want to be eventually, just takes time.

I constantly struggle with it. Lost half a stone in January and then with work and other stresses put it all back on.

In that state of 'I know I need to lose weight' but don't have any get up and go to do it

50kg That's pretty much Ellen's body weight

I do a fair bit of callisthenics. Very satisfying to see what you can do with your body. Disappointing when pretty much every 6 year old kid can do it better though.

I have always worked out and kept in shape. The trick is to make it part of your daily routine to exercise and make a habit to eat Well.

If you are dieting alone you will lose weight but its not sustainable in the long term.

More importantly it needs to he a lifelong endeavour not to get in shape for the holidays.

Having had a recent bout of mental illness I need to get back at it, I’d be delighted if I could shift 2 stone. If anyone wants, I’d gladly set up a telegram/whatsapp group for like minded people who are happy to help others like myself out get started and win at this very difficult task

And by the way OP, you should be very proud of yourself, that’s great work and you look fantastic.

Well done everyone, I know how difficult it is. Previously lost 4 stones, then put back on about 2 as I got complacent. Recently been diagnosed diabetic, overweight, high blood pressure and asthmatic. The full bingo card lol. So I’ve had to undergo a complete lifestyle overhaul. It’s been a complete mind f*ck, but I’m getting there. Diabetes/blood sugars are under control, blood pressure has lowered, and I’m getting compliments on how well I’m looking as the weight slowly comes off.

We’ve got this, we can do it

Everyone is different, Slimming World works for us though, over 7st down between us since the end of last summer.

There is no magic involved, but for us it helps having the sort of accountability of going there each week, especially on "bad" weeks. We quite like the social side of it too.

We are probably all like that, loads of false starts and setbacks. For years we've wondered what made it work *this time* for people who lost weight.

We think you look great BTW

I have found it is a habit. Once the habit is set in it tends to stick. Rather than trying to make one big habit (lose weight) maybe try creating lots of smaller habits: park the car slightly further away which makes you walk a bit more, don’t have biscuits in the house which means you are not tempted to eat them, add a bit more protein on your plate, etc. They all add up to the big habit but each is more manageable if you bring them into your life. You will get there.

"rather than being tied to slimming world and sons (which is the biggest load of tosh)

Everyone is different, Slimming World works for us though, over 7st down between us since the end of last summer.

There is no magic involved, but for us it helps having the sort of accountability of going there each week, especially on "bad" weeks. We quite like the social side of it too."

Well done that's amazing

It's good it works for you guys.

I just have the dislike of the words syns.. as it implies some food is bad. All food is good in moderation.

What do you normally do to try and loose weight.. is it the same thing every time?

I think it's short for "Synergy" rather than meaning "Sin".

Actually one of the positives for us is that you can eat anything but you need to account for it in a daily allowance, so we tend not to overdo it.

It's not for everyone though, the trick is just finding something that works or motivates

My aunty and uncle did it and they were finalist in the couple of the year for the UK.

But as long as it works for you it's all good

"Is anyone else on a weight loss journey?

How are you doing it and what are your tips?

I've lost just over 6st since Oct 22. 4 and a bit of that was from July 22.

Sorry to hear that...I'm hoping your now feeling better

You deffo need to be in the right mindset to think about losing weight.

I'd be up for that "

Not 100% but definitely better so heading in the right direction, thanks.

If there are a bunch of people who have telegram and would also be up for it I’ll gladly spin up a group.

Welldone you! I'm a yo yo-er. I go big then slim down. Current weight is just over 10 stone. I've lost around 3.5 stone since lockdowns. Going back to work, and walking around 7 miles a day at work helps. Plus only having 15 or 30 mins break at work prevents me eating too much. Ops almost forgot the drinking. I'm soft drinks only now.

I did buy a dress in size 6-8 this week. Unheard of in my lifetime. I still default to picking up a size 12, but I am a size 10 in clothing now. Just takes time for the brain to adjust.

Good luck to anyone on the journey.

Well done on the 3.5st that's brilliant. Also well done on kicking the booze.

I'm the same.. although this is the smallest I've been since I was a teenager. Hoping I'll be able to maintain it.

Ugh! I'm a right fat fuck currently. Weight has always gone up/down. I lost like 6st total a few years ago, engaged with gym attendance, ate better, running events, yada yada. Weight is right back up, but I'm busy (excuse I know!), but I really am! Life, work, general shit has eclipsed anything else the past 12mths. And sure I could go to the gym, once a week if I could carve out a spare hour. But frankly I'd rather sleep atm. Work is changing soon coming up, and I'll have the literal time to get back on it. I know how to do my macro breakdowns, I know what exercises work for me, I can easy run a cycle of low carb, or intermittent fasting, and so on.... But my stats health wise were fine this year. Much to my surprise, as my GP so I'm focusing more on 'life', and will get back to 'health', when I have the flipping time

Absolutely! I'm starting a new contract next month, and I've firmly told myself I will carve time inside that to look after me age has been on my side a lot, including previous fitness, good health. So that kinda claws me some extra milage currently, but I'm realistic I need to shed some poundage again, and review my nutrition habits. Or it will start to impact on me long term

2 stone down based just on diet. Had a wake up call after having gallbladder surgery and I stopped eating things with high fat and sugar. I got to a point where I couldn't lose anymore purely with diet so now I'm back at the gym also. There's always a reason for over eating and once I figured that out, it was easier to break the cycle.

2st is brilliant.

As you say when you work it out and it clicks, it's so much easier.

Also before if I did cheat so to speak, I used to just be like f it and beat myself up, where as now it's like everyone has a blow out every so often, it's normal.

Exercise and mental health are closely linked, and I believe that the endorphins related through physical activity does have a bearing on one's mental well being.

Yes I agree! The days through the roughest patch where I actually got to go out and have a nice long walk did make me feel mentally better.
