Hey everyone, I hope you’re all having a wonderful and successful day. For me personally, I’ve always found music to make me feel a lot of emotions - happy, sad, euphoric. Some songs and lyrics just make me feel in ways that are hard to describe. I thought I’d share a few lyrics from songs I’ve listened to over the years that have made me feel certain emotions more than others. I’d love to hear about songs you’ve listened to and lyrics that made you feel a certain way.

Noel Gallagher - "We're on Our Way Now"

Stood on top of the world

And when the cold wind blows, you say the chill doesn't matter

Having the time of your life

But when you take those pills, does it make it better?

When I discovered that song, I was going through a really tough time with my mental health. It sounds like a very depressing song, but it resonated with me as I was feeling very lost.

Oasis - "My Big Mouth"

Around this town, you've ceased to be

That's what you get for sleeping with the enemy

Where angels fly, you won't play

So guess who's going to take the blame for...

My big mouth, my big name.

In my personal opinion, this is a really underrated Oasis song. This year, in particular, I’ve felt that I’m starting to put some of my struggles behind me, and this song is about myself proving people wrong in my life who didn’t think I’d succeed.

Yael Naim - "New Soul"

I'm a new soul

I came to this strange world

Hoping I could learn a bit about how to give and take

But since I came here

Felt the joy and the fear

Finding myself making every possible mistake.

I heard this song many years ago as it was in an advert for an Apple laptop, and I've always kept it in my head. A few weeks ago, I listened to it for the first time in ages and I thought about it as me recovering from my mental health problems, trying to find myself again, and making the same mistakes.

"How I wish, how I wish you were here

We're just two lost souls

Swimming in a fish bowl

Year after year

Running over the same old ground

What have we found?

The same old fears

Wish you were here" - Pink Floyd, wish you were here

Shinedown-A symptom of being human.

I can still remember me and Miss November Rain

Beautiful and strange

Always so inclined, coloring outside the lines

Yeah, you were never on time

You've always been slightly awkward, kinda weird

Upside down and not all here

What's a-wrong with me and you is crystal clear

Sometimes I'm in a room where I don't belong

And the house is on fire and there's no alarm

And the walls are melting too

How about you?

I've never been the favorite, thought I'd seen it all

'Til I got my invitation to the lunatic ball

And my friends are comin' too

How about you?

Don't worry, it's all just a symptom of being human

Noel Gallagher dead in the water

So don't walk away love

There's never enough that could make me crash on the broken glass

Let the storm rage, I'd die on the waves

But I will not rest while love lies dead in the water

If I leave here tomorrow

Would you still remember me?

For I must be traveling on, now

'Cause there's too many places I've got to see

But if I stay here with you, girl

Things just couldn't be the same

'Cause I'm as free as a bird now

And this bird you cannot change

Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh

And the bird you cannot change

And this bird you cannot change

Lord knows I can't change

Maneskin- the loneliest

You'll be the saddest part of me

A part of me that will never be mine

It's obvious

Tonight is gonna be the loneliest

You're still the oxygen I breathe

I see your face when I close my eyes

It's torturous

Tonight is gonna be the loneliest

There's a few lines that I have wrote

In case of death, that's what I want, that's what I want

So don't be sad when I'll be gone

There's just one thing I hope you know, I loved you so

'Cause I don't even care about the time I've got left here

The only thing I know now is that I wanna spend it

With you, with you nobody else here

Tonight is gonna be the loneliest

I can tell by the tracks on your face

That you've been crying

I said the way you're reacting

You'd think that somebody was dying

Then you grabbed all my hair

And bit on my lip till it bled

Fuck the notion of living without you

I'd rather be dead

Fickle Mcselfish - Gerry Cinnamon

These faces I've known

Growing up on the streets in the Southside

From the hills of the 'milk

To the parade in the east end

I remember the change

In the accents on the Westside

Making money 'til there's no time left to spend

It's all bullshit but we all still pretend

Oh so many songs make me feel things and the feelings can change all the time for the same song too but my current lyrical obsession is:

Wake Up - Freya Ridings

I love you with all that I am

And I need you not to understand

And trying is the only way

I told you I cannot be saved

I'm waking up, I can see it all

I'm waking up

Can I breathe in the love from you?

'Cause I know you want me too

Let me breathe, let me breathe

Music is powerful. Many songs resonate or stir up emotions in me.

The one that does it the most is one I still can't listen to without tears.

Yesterday by the Beatles. It was my dad's favourite and he used to sing it beautifully. It just makes me miss him even more.

Good evening MsWyld. It’s really powerful for me. it won’t stop the sadness he’s not with you anymore but at least you think of him when listening

Paul Weller English rose

No matter where I roam

I will return to my English Rose

For no bonds

Can ever tempt me from she

I've sailed the seven seas

Flown the whole blue sky

I've returned with haste

To where my love does lie

And this one. Literally and figuratively means a lot.

The Scientist by Coldplay

Come up to meet you, tell you I'm sorry

You don't know how lovely you are

I had to find you, tell you I need you

Tell you I set you apart

Tell me your secrets and ask me your questions

Oh, let's go back to the start

Running in circles, coming up tails

Heads on a science apart

Nobody said it was easy

It's such a shame for us to part

Nobody said it was easy

No one ever said it would be this hard

Oh, take me back to the start

I was just guessing at numbers and figures

Pulling the puzzles apart

Questions of science, science and progress

Do not speak as loud as my heart

But tell me you love me, come back and haunt me

Oh and I rush to the start

Sam fender spit of you

You kissed her forehead

And it ran like a tap

No more than four stone soaked wet through

And I'd never seen you like that

Spun me out

Hurt me right through

'Cause it was love

In all its agony

Every bit of me

Hurting for you

'Cause one day that'll be your forehead I'm kissing

And I'll still look exactly like you

And I can talk to anyone

I can talk to anyone

I can't talk to you

I can talk to anyone

I can talk to anyone

I can't talk to you

Blackbird singing in the dead of night

Take these broken wings and learn to fly

All your life

You were only waiting for this moment to arise

Blackbird singing in the dead of night

Take these sunken eyes and learn to see

All your life

You were only waiting for this moment to be free

Blackbird - The Beatles

When you're driving with the brakes on

When you're swimming with your boots on

It's hard to say you love someone

And it's hard to say you don't

But unless the moon falls tonight

Unless continents collide

Nothing's gonna make me break from her side

(I never did leave her side even when it was tough. I’m at peace with it now, but that one means a lot to me)

So you wanna know me now

How I've been

You can't help someone recover

After what you did

So tell me am I looking better?

Have you forgot

Whatever it was that you couldn't stand

About me about me about me?

Because

Yes I do feel better

Yes I do I feel alright

I feel well enough to tell you what you can do with what you got to offer

Yes - McAlmont & Butler

And recently on repeat... Cool About It by boygenius

I ask you how you're doing and I let you lie

But we don't have to talk about it

I can walk you home and practice method acting

I'll pretend being with you doesn't feel like drowning

Tellin' you it's nice to see how good you're doing

Even though we know it isn't true

You throw your head back, and you spit in the wind

Let the walls crack, 'cause it lets the light in

Let 'em drag you through hell

They can't tell you to change who you are

That's all I know so far

And when the storm's out, you run in the rain

Put your sword down, dive right into the pain

Stay unfiltered and loud, you'll be proud of that skin full of scars

That's all I know so far

That's all I know so far

P!nk - that's all I know so far

Reminds me of my daughter

Oasis talk tonight

I wanna talk tonight

Until the morning light

'Bout how you saved my life

You and me see how we are

You and me see how we are

All your dreams are made of strawberry lemonade

And you make sure I eat today

You take me walking

To where you played when you were young

I'll never say that I won't ever make you cry

And this I'll say, I don't know why

I know I'm leaving

But I'll be back another day

I wanna talk tonight

Until the morning light

'Bout how you saved my life

Help me, it's like the walls are caving in

Sometimes I feel like giving up

But I just can't

It isn't in my blood

Laying on the bathroom floor, feeling nothing

I'm overwhelmed and insecure, give me something

I could take to ease my mind slowly

Just have a drink and you'll feel better

Just take her home and you'll feel better

Keep telling me that it gets better

Does it ever?

Help me, it's like the walls are caving in

Sometimes I feel like giving up

No medicine is strong enough

Someone help me

I'm crawling in my skin

Sometimes I feel like giving up

But I just can't

It isn't in my blood

It isn't in my blood

I'm looking through my phone again, feeling anxious

Afraid to be alone again, I hate this

I'm tryna find a way to chill, can't breathe, oh

Is there somebody who could help me?

Lyrically, Dermot Kennedy writes like no other. Doves and Ravens EP and first album, Without Fear are well worth a listen.

"I could have told you 'bout the long nights

How no one loves the birds that don't rise

So you can tell the heroes go hide

My sense of wonder's just a little tired

But if only you could see yourself in my eyes

You'd see you shine, you shine

I know you'd never leave me behind

But I am lost this time

Are we destined to burn or will we last the night?

I will hold you 'til I hold you right"

Cold - quiet now

On the day you went away from me

I remember all the little things

When you held my hand and said I'll be OK

I can still feel you in everything

Every movie, every song they play, every time I hear your name I pray

For rain

It's a little too quiet now

And it's harder everyday

I'll stand in the storm 'til the world is gone to keep you in my dreams

It's a little too quiet now

And no time can heal this pain

I'll stand up to God like I'm super man to keep you close to me

It's a little too quiet

I can still feel you in everything, every night brings back the memories

When I close my eyes you wave goodbye to me...

This song helps and hinders me, the lyrics and guitar work by Jeff Beck help me in my darkest moments. Blanket Imogen Heap,

Emotionless this city lies

Cruel it is, it clouds my eyes

The dull the dark shades on my day

I live inside this place

I see only what I wanna see

I'll be only what I wanna be

My blanket covers me, yes

Yeah, as a youth man I was body poppin, breaking on the lino

Traded in my lino for a pad and a biro

And I used to stand in line just so as I could sign my giro

Now my ends are meetin' in the best way that our lord got us

And the beast that goes boom

Music I consume to escape the doom and gloom

The beats and melodies keep realities at bay

But what happens when the record's gonn' start to fade away

Alone within myself again

I try to veil away my pain

Above the concrete feels pillow

With you I wanna go

I see only what I wanna see

I'll be only who I wanna be

My blanket covers me

Covers me, covers me, covers me

Woudn't they

I see only what I wanna see

I be only who I wanna be

My blanket covers me, yeah

You are my living world

You are my living world

You are you are you are

Only living world

I see only what I wanna see

I'll be only who I wanna be

My blanket covers me

Covers me, covers me, covers me

Woudn't they

I'll be only who I wanna be

I'll see only what I wanna see

My blanket covers me

This one Strikes a major chord with me.

Dylan Gossett : Coal

Now I've seen Heaven without dyin'

Met the devil without tryin'

And they both seem to want to talk to me

But I'm all out of luck now

And my dreams aren't worth a buck

How it's tough tryin' to land on my feet

When this game of life plays heavy on my heart

And love is tough, but loneliness is twice as hard

And I'll carry that 'bout everywhere I go

They say pressure makes diamonds

How the hell am I still coal?

There are places I'll remember

All my life though some have changed

Some forever not for better

Some have gone and some remain

All these places had their moments

With lovers and friends I still can recall

Some are dead and some are living

In my life I've loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers

There is no one compares with you

And these memories lose their meaning

When I think of love as something new

Though I know I'll never lose affection

For people and things that went before

I know I'll often stop and think about them

In my life I love you more

Though I know I'll never lose affection

For people and things that went before

I know I'll often stop and think about them

In my life I love you more

In my life I love you more

When you're weary

Feeling small

When tears are in your eyes

I'll dry them all

I'm on your side

Oh, when times get rough

And friends just can't be found

Like a bridge over troubled water

I will lay me down

Like a bridge over troubled water

I will lay me down

When you're down and out

When you're on the street

When evening falls so hard

I will comfort you

I'll take your part

Oh, when darkness comes

And pain is all around

Like a bridge over troubled water

I will lay me down

Like a bridge over troubled water

I will lay me down

Sail on silver girl

Sail on by

Your time has come to shine

All your dreams are on their way

See how they shine

Oh, if you need a friend

I'm sailing right behind

Like a bridge over troubled water

I will ease your mind

Like a bridge over troubled water

I will ease your mind

This takes me back to a painful time, and gets me crying every time.

Dry bones rattle in a lonely soul

Slipped and fell into a deep black hole

I can tell you're lost, I'm here for you

Wildfires burning you down to stone

Blind eyes, turning from a world so cold

A million miles apart, within my reach

It's not like me to worry

But when I see you fading in the dark

I'll leave a light on for you

Through the long nights, I will be right

There for you if you drift too far

I'll leave a light on for you, you, you

Rain comes following an endless drought

To wash away the remnants of all your doubt

I hope that you'll see me looking out

It's not like me to worry

But when I see you fading in the dark

I'll leave a light on for you

Through the long nights, I will be right

There for you if you drift too far

I'll leave a light on for you

Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh

Oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh

Through the long nights, I will be right

There for you if you drift too far

I'll leave a light on for you, you, you

Papa roach, leave a light on (talk away the dark)

Stranded in this spooky town

Stop lights are swaying and the phone lines are down

Floor is crackling cold

She took my heart, I think she took my soul

With the moon I run

Far from the carnage of the fiery sun

Driven by the str*ngle of vein

Showing no mercy, I'd do it again

Open up your eyes

You keep on crying, baby, I'll bleed you dry

Skies are blinking at me

I see a storm bubbling up from the sea

And it's coming closer

And it's coming closer
