Heres one for a general poll.
Whats everyones thoughts over keeping a house, do you all like to have a nice home that is kept tidy, or are you happy to live in a pig stye. In addition to that do you expect everyone to pull there weight around the house |

We both like to have a nice home that's comfortable to live in. Therefore we like it to be clean but we're not too concerned by a book or two on the coffee table or a stack of clean washing on the end of the bed.
We pull equal weight but our kids never did despite our best efforts |

I like things tidy and in their place but the older you get, these things matter less. If your mind is clear, you don't feel the need to control everything else around you cleaning included. |

I prefer a cleaner house but I’m also of the belief that it doesn’t matter so much! Sometimes there’s dishes in the sink and with having a dog, the kitchen needs brushing and mopping more than it happens.
We both generally clean though - neither of us wait to be reminded. If one is doing something, the other is getting on with something else.
So we can relax together.

A home is lived in , it is not realistic to be always spotless. But it needs to be organised, tidy and clean , if you want your life to be.
Your home reflects your personality and life 100%
My house my rules, everyone’s does their role including me. |

I live on my own in a brand new cell, so it’s easy to keep it spotless. I don’t worry if the kitchen/bathroom needs a wipe over but I can’t be arsed that day. It can always wait unless I have people coming round - I’m very house proud for visiting day. |

My brain doesn’t function properly if the house isn’t tidy. I have young kids so it isn’t always spotless with toys etc, but I like to keep some order. I don’t like clutter. |

For me I like everything to have a place, i hate clutter and I hate a messy house, theres no real need for it. I probably have a bit of OCD if im honest with mysepf, however we pay alot of money to have a home so why wouldnt we look after it |

I struggle to do housework due to disability and so the bulk of it falls to my husband. We both work FT and have young children. Life isn't perfect and nor is our house. It's acceptable. I'd like it to be tidier, but I'm coming to teens with it not being. Just coming in with a wheelchair from outside screws up your hoovering and floor mopping |

Mrs KC, maybe you could fit a mop head behind each wheel and you could mop the floor as you go without expending any extra energy
And some sort of hoover attachment in the middle (which my phone worryingly corrected to boober).
You. Are. Welcome. |

Our daughter used to go to a playgroup. I was talking to the leader one day who proudly boasted that the downstairs of her house has no evidence that children lived there . I simply couldn't live with that level of tidiness let alone keep it up.
All praise for those that do but I'm far too lazy |

There's a subset of people who think that houses should be perfect minimalist and come in shades of white and beige. Including children's bedrooms.
You do you with your own house etc, but I think kids should be able to metaphorically vomit colour all over their own spaces if they want to. |

I wouldn't class myself as a clean freak, but I can't leave my flat with dirty dishes (except for 1 mug of tea). My bed is made the minute I get up. My kitchen is scrubbed most weekends (including the extractor hood)
I WFH a bit and I am studying for a degree. I can't concentrate if I know the area is messy. |

I agree, and if they want to make the floor their wardrobe, that's up to them too. Cleaning their rooms is their problem. I've never allowed food in bedrooms so mouldy plates under the beds aren't an issue |

We are pretty tidy but not mega so.
It's a constant battle as we have kids and pets. There will be the inevitebel signs of life and random detritus such as toys and washing (put away clean in 3- 5 working days) |

You've heard of 'roomba' ? 'boober' is the latest version, just attach the handy cord to your bra strap as you enter the house and it sets to work vacuuming the room. |

Everything has its place and everything is in its place.
Not a show home but lived in tidy.
If its not tidy, at least its clean, shortly to be tidied.
As a single bloke, I've been told, I'm not right in the head. |

Organised chaos pretty much describes us. Things do kind of sort of have their designated places, but they may go wandering.
"Have you seen the letter opener? It's not in the holder?"
"I think I opened a letter in the conservatory last week. It's probably under a magazine in there. Didn't you have a letter the week before and I remember you went to your study with it?"
.
Sometimes we can lift a magazine months later and find something we misplaced a long time ago and we both laugh and say "Oh, so that's where it went !". And we'll put it back, alongside the new one we bought off Amazon to replace it
.
It is quite rare we forget where stuff is though. It's usually in the last place one of us used it. |

My house is chaotic. I live with family members who are very disorganised and I work too many hours to care currently.
At the moment, the only part of my house I seem to frequent is the porch, stairs, bathroom and bedroom.
Rules are dishes must be washed same day. Clean laundry moved to respective bedrooms same day and dirty laundry stays in laundry baskets until wash day. |

I tidy up and clean when I can be bothered. Nobody else helps. I am very laid back so it doesn’t really bother me too much. I couldn’t live with a neat freak. |

Interesting thread this. My main residence is always immaculately maintained because, I also have it adapted for my disabled mum's special needs. District nurses come in here currently once a week, and I won't allow any situation to arise where they could have concerns including cleanliness of this home.
Strangely enough though there is a couple in this area who on arrival at someone's house, she asks to use the toilet, and if it's not up to her standards, they make an excuse to leave. Nobody will ever walk into any of my houses and wonder to themselves, "If this is the state of my house, when did my dick last see soap and water." Only twice have I left a ladies house without playing because of the state the place was in. |
