James hetfield got to be one of the best . Love rob zombie Marilyn Manson but THE best is Trent Reznor of nine inch nails. So much love aggression and hatred all rolled into one.

Anywhere in the South West

Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam)

Chris Cornell (Soundgarden)

Miles Kennedy (Alter Bridge)

All of the above have the most amazing voices and write songs with intelligent lyrics that tell a story. It's helped that the bands they play in are technically superb. People, I urge you to give them a listen!

Love Eddie Vedder's acoustic stuff as well; he did some great soundtrack stuff for the stunning film "Into The Wild".

Ah, another enlightened soul!

The acoustic version of 'Black' - apt for this site perhaps, a song about lost love?

"I know someday you'll have a beautiful life.

I know you'll be a star in somebody else's sky.

But why, why, why can't it be, can't it be mine?"

BTW, Very nice profile as well, RandC!

Most have been covered already: Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, Willie Nelson, Smokey, Holland/Dozier/Holland (no shout for Lieber & Stoller?), Stevie Wonder, Lou Reed, David Byrne... Could also add Cisco Houston, Merle Haggard, Muddy Waters..... and - doubt many will agree - but: Dee Dee Ramone
