So. For the fans of the alternative music genres.

From metal to punk

Goth to industrial.

Name 2 new bands you are currently loving.

They don't have to be new new bands.

They could be new to you.

For me B (M) Sleep Token and Spiritbox are my latest loves.

For T (f) it's Ghost and Wolf Alice.

Ankor

.

Very innovative in mixing genres which I really appreciate. Eg, Death Metal smooshing in to Metal Core, a refrain verging in to pop territory, and vocals that go from full on Death Growls to pure singing (sometimes in a hip-hop style).

Recommended tracks are Holy Wolf (2018) where they were just cementing their style. Prisoner (2023/2023) shows the evolution of their sound.

.

ODDKO

.

Kitty Girl or Censorship

Another innovative band which blend genres. They also produce superb visuals for their songs.

Have you heard "Dub war"? It's basically early skindred in fact it's 50% skindred, slightly more chilled vibes though.

Couple of others I just thought of

.

Otyken

Russian Siberian indigenous music group that mixes elements of modern pop with local folk music

Recommended tracks are "Storm", "Legend", "Belief"

.

Veering off in to Drum and Bass, check out "Venjent".

Notable tracks are "The Worst Is Already Over" (more poppy to be fair), "R U Gona Move" (very D&B), "Flowin' with the Vibe". "Love Yourself Again" is also a sweet tune. "Zone" is good too.

He's prolific and does so much !

Along with most of the bands he already mentioned my two favourites right now are

Dead Sara

Otep

I have literally so many more!!

Omg I’ve never ‘met’ anyone who’s even heard of Dead Sara, saw them years ago supporting Kill Hannah and was gutted they didn’t appear at DL20 as originally promoted

Currently revisiting a bit of Incubus and old school Asking Alexandria with a bit of Maiden thrown in.

I'm terrible for listening to the same old bands to be honest! I discovered Code Orange a couple of years back, I really enjoy their noise. Spiritbox are new on my radar too, I'm entirely not sure if I'm a fan or not, but Courtney LaPlante is an extraordinary vocalist.

I've been listening to a lot of Architects recently, I didn't like their sound when they first appeared, but going back to it I'm really into them. BLEH!

It was re-visiting that rollicking shouty early stuff that caught my attention this time around, but I'm enjoying the way their sound has matured too. Similar creative path as BMTH, but not as extreme.
