Oral sex, STD or STI
Jump to: Newest in thread
I have just read up on wiki about STD & STI and did not realise that so many infections can be transmitted by oral sex. Wiki does not give any staistical info about transmission, type of partners, etc. Does anyone know what the statistical evidence is for transmission. I had thought that the chances of transmission were very low. What is your opinion? |

My opinion is that its a minefield and everyone should educate themselves and assess the risks that they are willing to take.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
"I visit 2 women regularly at a massage parlour and they both provide oral sex without condom. I did think that it must be because it was low risk."
Most people prefer oral without condoms, the risk can be lower but it does depend what you do, your own hygiene and their oral hygiene. The risk is mostly on the person using their mouth. Unless they are a biter; but that's a different risk. |

"how can you not brush your teeth before sex "
You should leave it at least an hour after brushing your teeth. You expose the gums and may cause tiny abrasions in your mouth with the brushing. These leave you vulnerable. |

You have increased risk of being exposed to STIs during oral sex in the following situations: you have gum disease, cuts or sores, you've had recent dental work that bruised any tissue in your mouth or you have vigorously brushed or flossed. During the 6 weeks after any type of oral or genital piercing, avoid any type of oral sexual contact. Wait 6 weeks even if you are in a mutually monogamous relationship, because until it is completely healed, the piercing is an open wound and provides easy access for bacteria and viruses. |
