No. I have drawn a lady and a man. Both of them are really good. I don’t know if they were nervous but they looked like they done it 100 times before. How they stayed in a position for a full hour, I will never know. |

Much trickier to do than it sounds, I bet. |

I life model quite regularly - started last year and usually have a few bookings a month. It tends to be a mixture of shorter and longer poses for an art group but you forget you are naked pretty quickly and just focus on holding still. |

"Was this the teachers idea by any chance?
Oh no, not at all. Something we did off our own bat, in our own time. No tutors involved.
Extra-curricular, if you like."
This was definitely your idea then |

I was buying some x rated water colour pictures from an auction site beginning with e. Got chatting to the guy via email and he agreed to paint a few of me and the mrs (small fee). I sent him some pictures from our profile and we got a few painted. |

It’s absolutely not a sex thing. Life drawing’s about improving your sketching skills. It’s a really powerful learning tool.
I suppose unless you specifically set out for it to be a sexual thing and everyone involved is on board with that. (I have been to Dr Sketchy’s, which mixes up life drawing, burlesque, music and booze to very entertaining effect.) |

That sounds like a great night night out. I'm Googling that |

"Was only thinking about this the other day, really fancy doing it. Not sure whether anyone would want to paint me though
"
Models are often in short supply, and it gets slightly boring drawing the same people all the time.
The point of life drawing is to draw real people in all their wonderful variety, no group would ever say no to a new model.
Practise a few interesting poses beforehand and they'll be inviting you back. |

There is a drag artist life drawing session that runs in Colchester (also mixed with alcohol), such a good laugh. |

100% this - art groups want all types of bodies and shapes. Often the further you are from “normal” the better as far as they are concerned because that gives them something different to focus on. |

I did once but it was for my uncle. He said he was shy about not being very good at drawing so wanted do it in private at his place.
He was right about being crap, when I looked at the end it just looked like he’d spilled his glue on the page.
Still, £20 richer. |

I work as a life drawing model. It's a handy side gig that pays cash.
It's not sexy at all and does require an ability to relax and hold still for quite a while but if your into it it's a nice way to make a few quid. |

It's not even sexy in your mind? Not even if a beautiful lady is staring intently at you? |

Not even a little bit. Context is everything. I'm at work and that's where my mind is at. Being perfectly still is an inside thing and its really a meditation. I'm not looking for distraction. |

100% agree with this - I did a 2.5 hour pose (with a couple of breaks) on Monday morning and I spent the whole time focussing on a bolt on one of the easels. Sounds boring (and it is at the start) but it is incredibly relaxing when you finally let your mind go. |

I've always been concerned my mind would wander in the wrong direction, with embarrasing concequences...
