Whilst at primary school my daughter stuck an egg on a toilet roll and painted it pink for an Easter egg decoration. It looked just like a cock. There was a lot of tittering going on... So my reply has to be pink

We used to dye them before painting. Boil them with food colouring in the water.

I had a great aunt who decorated ostrich eggs with little fake pearls and such. They where absolutely gorgeous and she did them into her 80s

In the end I went for red, yellow green and blue. I foond a method of using leaves to make prints on them. Gorgeous. Thanks for the suggestions.
