Star trek fans!
Jump to: Newest in thread
So me and violet are relatively new to being trek fans we found it in 2021 and started in release order and quickly found ourselves completely hooked! We watched everything avaliable and took us a year but a year we'll spent haha
So we would like to know what series within the franchise is your favourite and which is your least favourite and why?
Do you have a favourite film within the franchise and why?
Anything you wish was explored more in the franchise or you see as a missed opportunity?

I used to watch Star Trek: Voyager when I was younger with my Grandad so that’ll always be mine purely for nostalgia. The theme tune used to give me goosebumps too - so good. |

Love Star Trek 2, but prefer 6 “the undiscovered country.”
Fav series right now is Strange New Worlds.
Loved the first season of Discovery (it’s kinda how I would write trek!).
DS9 got really good and very gritty!!!
Hated enterprise. Promising concept that practically killed the franchise off.
And voyage was… okay. But a lot of it felt like it was just repeating it’s self “oh look they go to a planet and someone gets in trouble with the local legal system.” Or “oh no! The holodeck is broken again!”… I’m sure they could’ve made it home quicker if their captain wasn’t a magpie that kept getting distracted and going off course… |

I wish I’d given Deep Space 9 more of a chance when it was first out but I was a big Babylon 5 fan at the time and snubbed my nose to spite my face. The ongoing storyline concept is actually really good and I love characters story arcs.
Never could get into the Enterprise series though, nice idea but just didn’t “feel it” , can’t put a finger on why |

TNG is my favourite and loved TOS as a kid (I will always adore Spock)
Really struggled to get into Enterprise but eventually enjoyed it, (hate the theme song though).
I’ve tried several times but I just don’t like DS9 |

DS9 is our fav, loved every season. Loved hie dark and gritty it is and honest! Can't fault the acting and the father son relationship is a real thing of beauty in it too has to be said! I think voyager I proves when cass leaves so around season 3ish is it ? And I think enterprise was the hardest for us but i think that was in a large part due to season 3 for us just being flat out boring and dragged out. Season 4 seen to have a rhythm but they didn't get to explore that unfortunately. We loved discovery season 1 too! But feels its lost its way a little for us. But strange new worlds is brilliant and we particularly loved the musical episode even if most hated it haha |

Some shows just don't resonate and we think the first 3 seasons for whatever reason are just abit bland when compared with what came before but is some good Eps in those seasons but feel season 4 was a bug improvement but was cancelled before it could be expanded.
Well we evolve as people and i think rediscovering something can be really fun especially if you thought it wasn't for you we tried for years to gwt into trek and just couldn't and one day it just clicked |

"We are living in a golden age of trek.
Discovery after enterprise seems a clunky restart but then we got strange new worlds, lower decks, picard and the promise of section 31 movie.
So good "
Yeah love lower decks! Picard season 3 was epic haha not sure they will but would love the cast of next gen to do some more! Or one last film |

The saving grace of enterprise is the theme song and how they jazz it up in the later seasons is next level haha! I don't think I can go a week without quoting faith of the heart haha |

I actually really liked Enterprise once I got over that Scott Bakula was no longer Dr Sam Beckett.
The introduction of the Borg in TNG Q-Who was a master stroke but was slightly ruined later with the addition of a Borg queen as a central protagonist.
Having an enemy that are just a pure collective with no central figure is far more menacing. |

I don’t think it’s a bad song, it just doesn’t fit the show for me, sounds like a very dated 20th century song when the show is set circa 2151.
I have the same problem with the so called old fashioned music Zefram Cochrane plays in first contact

TNG, the early episodes are a bit iffy, characters aren't fully developed to start with but excellent after that
Quite like Enterprise
TOS is basically Kirk shagging his way across the universe

I'm a big fan of Star Trek in general, and gre up with the original series.
I still have a lot of love for the original series, and really enjoyed how the newest films paid hommage to the original characters.
From the series, I think that Enterprise is probably my favourite, but I love them all.

For me, The Original Series and Strange New Worlds hit the spot, with The Next Generation being a close third.
Favourite film is either “First Contact” or “Tge Wrath of Khan”.
Discovery became repetitive and self-indulgent.
Can’t stand Voyager.
DS9 I need to get into. |

DS9 is my favourite. It's Dominion War story arch and the dark side of this so called utopian society shows through. Garak and O'Brien are my favourite characters.
Movie it's First Contact. Remember seeing it twice in the cinema.
Least favourite series is Enterprise. Was just to shiney for me. That said I watch it anyway because it's Star Trek.
As a young lad growing up the way I did star trek was an escapism. Really helped through some pretty dark times. |

Those Old scientists (TOS) is a phrase I took from Lower Decks crossover episode with Strange New Worlds. that is how I will remember Kirk Spock and Bones.
Tos episode Balance of Terror, is my fav episode from TOS
Next Gen Episode Ship in a Bottle
DS9 my fav series episode In the Pale Moonlight but there are so many good episodes in DS9
Voyager episode Fair Heaven
Enterprise, The Zindi ark was the first time Star Trek tried a continued story, I just finished watching it again and still enjoyed it.
Discovery is a no no for me, it is not the original idea.
Lower Decks has become a guilty pleasure
Strange new Worlds is a yes from me as the actor who plays Pike is a good match and I would say saved the franchise.
I have many books including The Guide to the Future and my dislike of the kelvin timeline is that my books no longer matter as kelvin is off cannon.
Overall I love trek I love the human stories, the world they built well universe.
I watched the episode when Picard was taken by the Borg (sounds Swedish) at the end of part 1 the TV announcer said part 2 would be on in 3 weeks because of the cricket I was like WHAT!!!
The number of complaints BBC2 received made them break the cricket to show part 2 the very next week, now that's trekkie power. |

Babylon 5 was utterly underrated, and staunchly followed by anyone with an Amiga. I'm so glad it eventually unleashed amazing story arcs. Such a shame about the cartoons.
As for StarTrek... Wrath of Khan for sure my favourite of the films. I also loved Search for Spock.
And DS9 or TNG (so many epic episodes in TNG.) Heck, Picard too. I can't decide. |

The new film are very awful and have degenerated into crappy action films were people are just running around shouting while things blow up in the background.
The was one where they used a Beastie Boys song and I just thought 'fuck off with that shit'. |

All new start trek films SHOULD use Leonard Nimoy songs for their soundtrack.

Might as well get Scotty to listen to The Proclaimers as he is fixing the the warp coil in the next movie. I can imagine him going full agro when Spock claims that their success with Letter from America as being highly illogical |

There was a fan campaign for a fourth season but who knows a lot of schedules impacted by Hollywood strike.
If paramount were smart they’d get Seth MacFarlane on board to do a Star Trek tv show.
Discovery season 5 isn’t too far away and I think only that and animation this year. Should be another season Lower Decks and Prodigy season two on Netflix.
The Michelle Yeoh section 31 thing is filming as is next Strange New Worlds. The academy show is meant to be going ahead but unsure if that’s 2025 or not.

Loved the original series and next generation.
DS9 was okay but never got all the hype.
Enterprise was better on a second watch but probably my least favourite.
Enjoyed all the new series especially Strange New Worlds and Below Decks. |

Watched TOS back when the BBC first aired it in the 1970s, was hooked from the get go.
Favourite of the franchise, for me TOS stands alone, it is the GOAT so not included in the following list.
1. DS9 - along with the reimaged BSG and The Expanse, DS9 is the best sci fi ever. Yes S1 and 2 were a bit cringy, but once the Dominion War arc started...Wow!
2. SNW - the only thing good about Discovery is it gave us SNW. Old skool Trek, it's TOS if they'd had the technology then what filmmakers have now.
3. Picard - brilliant 3 season run that ended in a total geekout with the TNG crew back on the bridge of NCC1701-D.
4. TNG - clunky start but really found it's stride around S3, loved the Klingon centred episodes.
5. ENT - There is a lot of unjustified hate for Enterprise, sadly it was constrained by being a prequel, so the writers had thier hands tied with what they could do. Also there was way too much executive interference which ultimately killed it.
