You often see people use genuine in profile, status or meeting requests. What does it really mean? It seems that people have such widely varied notions of that, that it actually carries very little value. As a minimum of genuine I would expect to be who they say they are, to abide by arrangements made and perhaps naively to be of 'good' character.

I would guess they’re trying to convey that they’re not fakes or timewasters. If they say they’ll come round and pork your pudding, you’re getting stuffed and no mistake! And they’ll probably wash, too. |

You gotta be careful because if you put "genuine" on your profile and you haven't met the ISO 30500 spec that covers it you're one mistake away from a crippling lawsuit.
