Following on from another thread about people being resurrected by AI after they’re dead so people can talk to them.
Do you ever think about what will happen to all your digital content should you expire unexpectedly? Have you made plans for your accounts or hard drive to be deleted? Do you clear your browser history often?
Or do you not care what you leave behind for others to possibly uncover, or even use somehow once you’re gone? |

Camberley occasionally doncaster |
I have nothing on any hard drive, except family memories and music.
The little social media I have is tame.
I'm more concerned about my parents or daughter (only family) finding the box of sex toys and ropes, and the dressmakers dummy I use to practice some shibari on, under my bed. |

If I am gone then I wouldn’t really care what someone finds
And it’s not as if people don’t all really have access to everything anyway
Android is made by Google
iPhone is made by Apple
Fb snoops everything
Apps you install in to your phone
Are all leaching web browsers data phone numbers text messages photos and everything
There is no hiddened nothing these days
Apart from being totally off line
Witch in this day and ages isn’t even possible
You run in to all sorts off problems
Ie my gran doesn’t have the net and the amount off times I had to take my phone over so she can fill in a forum or contact a company or something is unreal
There is no way to live there’s days without a internet connection

There's nothing concerning to find but there is a plan in place to have this profile deleted if necessary. Only because it would no longer be required so I'd rather it was deleted. The rest of my social media is just family stuff so up to them what they want to do with it. |

We were talking about this the other day. Someone close recently passed away and we were given their phone alongside other posessions. Their whole life is on there. Just given away to someone else.
I guess it won’t really matter because I won’t be here to face the embarrassment of someone close finding all the nudes on my phone but it does make me really uncomfortable thinking about it
I have passwords on everything so I guess hopes and prayers that they don’t work it out is all I’ve got |

"Coincident to this thread Elle has just found a clip of me on BBC news from the 80s.
Nothing is lost these days and it can come back to haunt you!
God I looked like a twat back then. "
Shit, I just remembered that I was on TV about 20 years ago. I think I looked like a twat back then too |

I was talking about this the other day, albeit about my flat and possessions.
I honestly couldn’t the slightest shit what happens to my stuff or what people think of me when I’m dead - I’ll be dead!
I have no one to give my stuff to so it’ll be someone else’s problem. And if someone says “Ere, turns out Felix was a massive perv”, who cares?!! |

I'm the same. Digital filth is only accessible from my phone which is fingerprint, facial recognition and password protected so that doesn't worry me. It is my enormous collection of toys and lingerie I don't want my kids to find (though they have seen some stuff lying around so I am probably worrying unnecessarily) |

Who cares what happens to my digital content when I'm dead? Anything of value, digital or physical, would have been added to my will, the rest can go into the recycling bin. My secret life's paw prints such as this comment or photos are mostly protected by some sort of encryption so not easily discoverable without effort, which I will be able to do about exactly nothing when I'm dead. |

I thought I was fine deleting history and pictures off an old laptop and giving it to my mum. Little did I know all she used media player to scroll though pictures and videos - or something or other.
She never said anything, but a few months maybe a year after I saw a folder next to wedding, aunty x, birthday y, party z, then my own name .. opening it, a bunch of titty and dick pics. I just fucking died and hit delete.. though it probably isn't deleted as it's somewhere stored in some corner of a kilobyte. |

With an old camera/ computer run a program to shred the hard drives (you'll prolly have to have it connected to another computer running the software).
Then I take the camera/computer outside and then smash it with a sledge hammer..and burn it...(& smack its bum)
Job done. |

Not thought anything about cameras, I do it with phones and usually pc's/laptops. I bought her a new laptop and yes, smashed the other up
Though just realised your point about shedding as everything is now synced. urrr |

"It's actually quite rare for me to make naked content with my face shown.
As I get older I find myself also trying to downsize in general. .Real world possessions and digital presence."
Same, this was a good 5+ years ago now, and one I'd had for years, I won't be doing it again |

Yep
I think with some media players they have their own history even when you have deleted the folders on the computer. Hopefully they were only thumbnail images & your mum didn't notice.. |

Hey I think you have a Business Plan there...
If I can contract a lawyer to sort out my will, IT professionals like yourself should be legally appointed to press the self-destruct (locked) parts of my digital life.
People say they "don't care" what happens when they die, but we need to consider for a moment the impact of grieving loved ones... |
