We’ve recently had an electric towel rail fitted, it was connected to another socket in the adjoining room & had a switch fitted which had an orange light that came on & think was on permanently.

The orange light is no longer coming on but the towel rail still works, so what was does the orange light on the plug mean? Thanks.

Is it maybe the light for the thermostat and when it reaches temperature it goes out? Bit like on an oil filled radiator just a guess but seems plausible

That wouldn’t explain why it used to be on & now never comes on.

Without seeing the face plate.. it could / might be a fused spur with an indicator light.. could be the neon light has gone

Ok thanks so whether it’s a fused spur or the neon gone what’s the purpose of the orange light. We wrongly assumed it was an indicator of power?

normally if its the light on the fused socket that controls the heated towel rail it would just mean its on

Whaley Bridge,Nr Buxton,

It shows the power is on.If the socket works but the light is out,the bulb has blown.
