How have you reduced your use of plastics? With microplastics found in the umbilical cords of all new born babies tested, it's tragic that our ubiquitous use of plastics is now so prevalent.

It's shocking how much we use. I remember going to Rwanda 10 years or so ago. They have banned plastic bags completely. This is a country that had a genocide in the 1990s but by 2008 had banned all single use plastic and the first country to do so. We need to do better, starting from the top. |

Is it about what we buy or how we treat the rubbish we create.
Plastic is now in water so it's there it can't be removed.
But there is still liter every where braking down and putting more pollution in to the environment.
Stopping liter is the cheapest way to reduce this problem. |

I try to grow as much of my own veg as I can so I'm not buying it wrapped in plastic or in bags.
I don't buy drinks in plastic bottles anymore.
My life has never been enormously plastic heavy anyway. |

We can reduce the volume of what gets added to what's already around. We've been somewhat fooled to perceive that much of our plastic waste can and will be recycled. Even recycled, what little gets done, is still in existence and can breakdown
As you hint, I think, it's a multifaceted approach that's needed. The best will come from ending plastic use. Not simple. We definitely have to address the issue of the waste already around.
Plastic-like products, made from natural substances, have been started and I guess that we have to do a lot more development and testing, before we can make big leaps forward. Plus switching to safer, existing materials, like glass, etc |

So how would be up for banning polyester in clothing and other materials.
Polyester brakes down when washed.
And is so bad for the environment when being made.

Every time I manufacture a product for sale to a public in great numbers, I decide to use none plastic packaging…..
How is it the end users problem to solve?

It's predominantly the producers and governments responsibility in my opinion. We as consumers can influence and change some of our behaviours. |

We need more ethically sourced and produced clothing. I dread the thought of millions of tiny pieces of fabric getting washed off and ending up anywhere |
