It is the perfect, nutritionally balanced meal - esp if you have it with wholemeal bread |

It’s a perfect example of cost not being related to a joyous meal.
Give me baked beans on toast over some of Hester bloominghell weird creations any day.
Proper butter, few additional items and it’s budget cooking heaven
Poached egg on a slice of proper ham on toast anyone |

"I used to love beans on toast with very thickly spread butter. However sometime in the early 2000s the taste of beans altered and it's just not the same any more "
I can't do Heinz beans anymore too much sauce and runny.
Branston Beans are the only ones I'll eat now. |

"This will sound a bit strange to some I like baked beans but not on toast but the toast separate
Can't beat cold beans out of the tin, couple of sliced of toast for dunking and scooping."
*Bread not toast* |

"Beans and sausages is the superior version
It is! And 'London Grill' was even better.
Though I try not to think of what meat is in those sausages...
This exactly re the sausages, lol"
The veggie versions are just as good. And about the same meat content. |

Ditto..
Heinz are awful..
Beans, whether from a tin or a 'cowboy' beans type recipe are an excellent food..
Blazing saddles round the campfire springs to mind.. |

Ok, that's me being a self-indulgent knob done it's actually pretty interesting as to what people add to it and whether they enjoy the beans in roast or just the toppings they add |

"I'm going to say something seriously controversial now...
I fucking hate baked beans. They're vile!
I can not understand for the life of me how they're so popular.
They're absolutely disgusting! "
Sacrilege.. heathen defiler of haricot beans in a tomato based sauce.

"Add Branston, chilli flakes, a bit of cheese, dash of red wine to the saucepan of baked beans. Delicious. "
And whilst you're waiting for the pan to warm up you will of course have plenty of time to butterfly a rabbit, rub some salted butter under the skin, flash-fry over a high heat until seared then finish in a pre-heated oven with a generous splash of Chianti to keep the rabbit flesh moist and succulent.
Hehehe, I said "moist".
