I've wanted a tattoo for years but can't think what to get and there seems to be plenty on here that have them so thought I might get a few ideas.
I'm not into skulls, snakes, wolves, fantasy etc. Definitely not wanting Mum, love and hate etc.
Something unique, small and discreet that doesn't include cocks or pineapples either!
Thoughts please. |

"I'd say, don't get one then. Best to get one when you know as they're forever.
You could always find a tattoo artist you like and look at their flash designs"
This^^ or atleast has an idea if you want something traditional or black n white or realism. As above said, jump on local artists social media and find someone's style you like. A tattoo is forever, not just for Christmas |

I agree with the above, tattoos are personal and permanent. All of mine have a special meaning to me, figure out what's important to you and then go from there. |

Don’t get a tattoo for the sake of getting a tattoo. When you find an image you really like, or that is especially meaningful to you then go for it. There are loads of people with once fashionable tattoos like Celtic or tribal bands that look as terrible as once fashionable clothes now look. |

OP, tattoos are a lot harder and more painful to remove than they are to get.
If you don't know what you want, don't get one. Its not like changing your mind about a hair cut.
I carried the design of my first tattoo around with me for ages to see if I still liked it. The tattoo artist who did it for me said this was exactly what he advises, especially if its your first.

I have a terrible tattoo from my youth. It means nothing, looks crap and is now old and faded.
I still like it as it reminds me of the person I was at the time. They don't always have to be deep and meaningful. And to add to that the one I have which was full of personal meaning now has a very different meaning to me. Do what feels right for you, even if it means getting a meaningless tattoo. |

I have 4. One of which I'm undergoing laser removal on. That one was done in hast! I'm good with the other 3.
Take your time, don't rush into it. Make sure you're 100% certain.
P_interest is a good site for ideas.

You need to look at your motivations for getting a tattoo. I would advise making sure it is something that has some meaning and you will be happy with forever. Removal is costly, as are cover ups.
Much depends on your mindset, but seeing as you have been thinking about it for years I will assume you don't just want it as a fashion statement - like every guy who got a full sleeve tattoo to copy David Beckham.
Do your research. Not just on designs but also artists you might like. Many have individual styles and strengths. (Colour, B&W, classic hyperrealism, dot work etc)
Your tattoos should make you smile when you see them.
Also don't cut corners. Good tattoos aren't quick or cheap. Go for the best you can afford, even if you need to save for it. |

Some people take tattoos too seriously. They are pictures on your body. That's it. Pick flash and go for it. As long as it's well done. Get somewhere you can easily cover.
Don't use numbing cream. |
