I may have just cooked the perfect steak.

Aldi Sirloin steak medium pink with crispy caramelised burnt bits round the edging melting into the little fat round the edge.

Melt in the mouth x

A den in the Glen

It needs to be cooked how you like it. But I did know a chef that when given a steak to cook well done he would throw it on the floor first. Apparently.

I'll give it a try over the weekend and tell you and I'll have to get the perfect steak so I'll pop into my butcher and find one x

I still remember getting medium rare and realising there would be no going back to well done.

Never made the leap to just seared though.

The best sirloin (for me) is 90 seconds each side.

Oh and it's not blood, that is drained at slaughter, what you see is myoglobin from the muscle tissue.

With a fried egg cooked in the same pan as the steak with butter and the dripping from the steak..

And the choice of sauce can make or break a steak imo

Fillet steak, well done

Paper Town Central, Essex.

Nah.

The perfect steak is Filét Mignón that's been marinated for 24 hours and cooked so you can cut it with a spoon.

Super chunky triple cooked chips and pan fried garlic mushrooms and shallots.

De-glaze the pan with a splash of burgundy, reduce and pour over the steak.

"Fillet steak, well done "

Oh Joe.

Fillet steak, beautiful.

Well done, not so.

But then again as long as you enjoy it and I have my own the way I like it, all that matters really

I'm joking, I've never had a steak before but heard the fillet isn't the best cut and well done is sacrilege

I just had the most awful experience of a vegan curry. I need some meat to fix the situation.

I feel mouthly violated and not in a good way!

MrsAbz

Ps no offence intended to vegans but what the actual? How do you eat that stuff?

I’m happy to try all of these perfect steaks & make a decision

Except Joe’s. Joe needs to stand in the corner & think about what he’s done

Reading

Never understood why people go on about steak, it's just a lump of beef cooked without any spices with little flavour as a result.

Hardly cuisine.

Smoking hot pan with a knob of butter, a nice thick ribeye steak.

2 minutes each side then turn the heat off and let it sit for 3 or 4 minutes while the chips finish cooking. Still pink and juicy on the inside but browned well on the outside served with chips, mushrooms and fried onions.

See, there’s nothing intrinsically wrong with vegan dishes (I make a cracking smoked aubergine dhal …) but bad food is bad food. Unforgivable.
