Been an avid horror movie fan since my very early teens..but finding myself watching same over again because like the saying goes 'they don't make em' like they used to'

More into slasher/gore style really.

Off top of my head my most recent I've thoroughly enjoyed and recommend are (in no particular order)

Haunt (2019)

Evil Dead Rise (2023)

Smile (2022)

It (2017)

The Boogeyman (2023)

What are your favourite horrors and why ?

Hard to say "best" as its not a competition but my faves are...

20th Century: The Wicker Man (1973) - Why? Unpredictable, great music and one of the most damning critiques of the fallacy of faith in supernatural entities.

21st Century: Martyrs (2008) - Why? The most physically brutal horror yet made yet will have you pondering its raison d'etre for aeons after the end credits.

Not exactly a horror movie, but loved Carry On Screaming. Especially, Fenella Fielding.

I like the conjuring films, plus the original IT. The remake was funnier than it was scary.

I thought original The Fog was quite scary too.

For gore, Saw. I can’t watch them.

I like a lot of classic, black and white horror films that are more about atmosphere than actual gore or violence. The early Universal Frankenstein films, Island of Lost Souls, Night Of The Demon.

I also like John Carpenter and David Cronenberg films - which can be gory but Cronenberg tends to treat horror like a scientist would - he's slightly distanced and doesn't push your face into it.

Jump scares - Lights out and insidious are my favourites.

Chainsaw massacre makes me want a bacon sandwich but my favourite horror as a child.

Notting Hill - a psychological dystopia about an engineered society placed in a simulation of a city.

'vile' and 'I threw up after 14 minutes'. Just a couple of the positive reviews.

. Yes I believe the opening of Ben starts with the end of Willard.Ironically I saw Ben first and it was a few years later that I saw Willard.
