I’m injured.

Anyone, (preferably a medical pro) got any advice for getting rid of tennis elbow? Apart from the usual, rest then avoid straining the affected area.

Failing that, any magic potions that will do the job?

"Corticosteroid injections or extracorporeal shock wave therapy"

The cure sounds worse than the condition

A thin support bandage worn just above the elbow can help. I'm sure there'll be a YouTube video somewhere

Haha it's just an ultrasound treatment that sends energy waves to the damaged elbow tissues

Is that self diagnosed or have you had a hcp diagnose it?

Just self diagnosed, it’s not serious enough to bother the NHS with. Most likely take weeks to get anywhere and I’d just be taking up resources better served elsewhere.

I know it’ll heal in time but tendons take ages. I’m just hoping there’s a short cut lol

I’m not a medical professional but I did train in massage and reflexology. Google how to get rid of elbow pain with a spoon. Sounds crazy but it worked a treat for me. Watch a couple of videos, give it a try and let us know how you get on. E

Tendonitis.

I had it as a fallout from RSI, lasted almost a year.

Tried lots of things but a sports pressure support and a course of ibuprofen was then only thing that helped it.

Plus, stopping the activity that was causing the RSI in the first place.

Worst thing I tried was acupuncture. Caused me to black out as they got a needle in the wrong place.

Probably take yourself to a good sports physio.. But the usual... cold and heat... Pressure bandage/support... Rest... No short cuts.... Miracles are in short supply

I’ve seen the spoon thing, it’s basically just a massage. I do that myself every morning which provides temporary relief.

Thanks for all the input folks. Think I’ll just sign up for a bionic arm from Elon lol

The looser I hold my racquet, especially on serve, the less I get it.

I have (as do many) a tendency to equate power with a strong grip.

A loose grip is more effective, and less injurious.

Maybe you already hold it very loose, but if not, try that once you've recovered.

And if you've already mastered the loose grip - discount all the above as patronising twaddle...and good luck.

Because TE fuckin' 'urts.
