If you won the lottery?
Jump to: Newest in thread
Hey everyone, I hope you're all having a great day. I'm sure there's a similar post, but I thought it would be a fun question to ask: What would you do if you won the lottery? There are a lot of things I'd do if I did. For the past three years, I've struggled with anorexia. That word probably scares some people and makes them think twice about meeting me just based on that fact, but I've realized as I've gotten older, I've just got to be myself instead of trying to fit in and be a certain way just for people to like me. I've been in recovery for a year now, and I still struggle and have a long way to go, but I'm proud that I've fought this disorder. At times, it felt like it wasn't worth recovering because of how much I let it control my life, but I'm more determined than ever to have a healthier and more positive life. If I won the lottery, one thing I've felt very strongly about recently is improving the services available for people with eating disorders because of my past experience with having an eating disorder and how difficult it is to treat/recover from. The NHS waiting times for therapy and treatment are extremely long, and unless you're seriously ill, you haven't got much chance of getting help quickly. I would help fund a residential treatment center for people that need intensive treatment. Unless you're very ill, it's very difficult to get into a treatment center on the NHS. I was lucky I never got to that point of needing to be hospitalized, but mentally I was struggling badly with my eating disorder. On a selfish note, if I won the lottery, I would travel the world. I've been lucky in my life to visit a lot of countries, but there are plenty of cultures and places I want to see. thanks to anyone that reads this whole essay! lol

Depends on how much. Chances are I'd just invest some of it. If its like 50 million or something then I'd just retire. I could live the rest of my life comfortably without work ever again, I can think of no greater heaven. |

First of all I wouldn’t tell a soul, but there would be signs *looks at boobs*
When everyone worked it out, I’d probably share a portion of it with my family, make sure they were ok before spending it on other things. |

Great answers so far. Here’s some Noel Gallagher lyrics on a similar theme
I'm gonna get me a motor car
Maybe a Jaguar maybe a plane or a day of fame
I'm gonna be a millionaire so, can you take me there?
Wanna be wild cos my life's so tame |

I'd go on 2 back to back holidays. One with my son and one just myself. After giving some to family n friends I'd bank the rest n just live comfortably. I'd still probablh work part time though at least. Think I'd go crazy not doing much. |

"Blow it all on sex "
The only way to do it
Seriously though, I'd set up a family office / trust and let them handle the estate while paying me decent pocket money to live a good life, nothing crazy just more time to seduce the ladies. |

"I don't play the lottery but, if I did, and won a massive amount then I think I would be similar. I would ask the question, "what good could I do with it" rather than what could I buy." that’s exactly how I think about it as much as I’d like to buy thing’s for myself it makes me happy if I can do something that helps someone else

I'd donate a wedge to Macmillan and the John Radcliffe hospital children's department, then would have surgery to get my nasal septum straightened (other people claim not to notice it, but its all I see when I look in the mirror). |

Put half in a high interest account.
Buy the house that I want, instead of can afford.
Sort out my mum, move her closer to me.
Set up an account for the kids, so they will have something for a rainy day.
Go out and enjoy life. |

First, I'd buy houses for my kids. Then pay of the mortgage of a friend who is struggling financially.
If there's enough left, a trust fund for the parent of a disabled child I used to support at work.
Finally, I'd retire and just be happ every day |

I wouldn’t tell anyone and I wouldn’t share it, well except for someone who could do with a loan for a specific purpose and I once told them ‘ you can have the money if I win the lottery’, would be wrong to go back on it even though I said it with no real expectation that I would win. |
