Looked all over today for a Mothers day card with Mam on it. Couldn't get one anywhere. Always called her Mam, but it's all Mum, Mummy, or Mother. Is Mam a northern thing? Or is it nationally used?

I haven't heard people use 'mam' down south.

Would moonpig be an option?

Loads of cards in Wales with Mam instead of Mum. Mam is a very Welsh thing.

My mum hated the term 'mother's day' and much preferred using 'mothering sunday' I had a dickens of a job getting nice cards with that on.

Instead of mum? She might be a bit offended by that.

Very northern thing, really don't hear it down south. I know C's mum bought a card that said "Mom" by accident up in the northwest, but don't think she said about Mam

Reminds of the classic scouse joke about the Liverpool docker known as the 'deisil fitter' because whenever he was in the hold he'd be rifling through clothes going

Dese'll fit me da

Dese'll fit me ma
