I come on the lounge to chill, thread a little, post a little and pass the time with a bit of escapism. Increasingly there seems to me, and I might be wrong, that numerous 'political' threads get posted here rather than in the politics forum. Whilst some of those issues are of course important to people and for discussion, it seems to me that there are often hidden agendas, polirised opinions and the wish to stir the muck as the undelining motive. Fine but I rather not in the lounge. As I said, just my opinion. Who is up for cake   |

I agree about the political stuff. While I get involved (because I'm passionate about reality and common sense!) I am fed up with it all. Very few people are able to have a civil discussion on contentious topics these days and it's horrible. Everyone has some ill-informed point of view they got from some idiot on YouTube, or from the Daily Mail or Guardian.
Sometimes I get the feeling I'm the only person who studied history anywhere... its deeply depressing.
When did this need for EVERYTHING to be political start? Where did it come from? And what's its endgame? History tells me, no good can come from this level of blind partisan, hyper-focused politics.
People need to get a grip, a learn the art of agreeing to disagree while still living happily side by side. |

I prefer it that the lounge has a mixture of threads, whether they're boarding political or games. It attracts a wider audience of people with different interests and opinions. If the thread is not to my taste, I simply leave it alone, but I rather they were there |
