I have just come off a call to reniew car and home insurance policies. I have been fleeced despite all efforts. £300 more in total than last year. Stayed with same company as comparison sites and the ones that are not on them could not better it. It's milk and bread for the next year. Damn it.

Our home insurance went up by £8 I think.

The car insurance isn't due yet ... we're dreading that.

It seems logical but apparently those comparison sites send any data to whichever companies are on them so even if you try with them directly after, they already have a quote rather than a tailored one from calling them independently.

Another symptom of broken Britain

I've never felt so despondent and lacking in hope for the future of this country

The post office is pretty good for motor vehicle insurance...or was last year.

We went through our building society for home insurance.

Saga will (or used to) fix the price for three years.

I was in a public loo yesterday and a random woman was shouting through the door at me that the country has gone to the dogs. Then started in on a rant about conditions and how she wouldn't want to be young again. All because the hand dryer wouldn't work.

I don't think insurance prices are a symptom of 'broken Britain' though

Blimey, and I thought paying £2.7K was expensive.

Yeah I'd resort to that but I can't afford the refunds...

Why isn't it? Insurance companies make enormous profits, with the benefit not passed onto the consumer....

Government do nothing to intervene to help people in a cost of living crisis

Symptomatic of multiple issues post credit crunch and brexit

Can government intervene in the cost of insurance?

I halved my car insurance by taking one of my cars off the road.

I miss her though... might need to get her back on the road.

I'll only have to cut a few things from my lifestyle... electricity, hot water, food...

I sold my car because I haven't been able to drive for a while due to eye problems. I've decided not to buy another because it's just too expensive to run.

We're absolutely dreading renewing the insurance on Mr N's though, the road tax is bad enough .

Motoring is an expensive business. If public transport was more reliable I probably wouldn't bother driving again

Bring back the donkeys. Though pronably would feel sorry and would not want to sit on one. I probably just walk alongside.

Why don't you want me to lose the hair?

Is it because you've seen all the forum comments from women saying they hate long hair on men? Trying to keep me put of the competition are you? ARE YOU??? hahaha

It’s super ugh at the moment and since my van got pinched (now returned), I’m really dreading my renewals in nov. Last years renewal was bad enough. I may end up getting rid of one of the vehicles as it’s a crazy cost now to keep both. I totally feel your pain op. Beans and rice for me rather than milk and bread as lactose and gluten intolerant

We might have to walk to meets, as the car can't be used unless it benefits your wife
