I often update my status. Generally tends to be with interesting lyrics from a song I happen to be listening to, and yes, they often generate messages from folk who know the song/artist. I find it a great way to break the ice with new people. |

If I want attention or a meet I’ll throw a status update up, or maybe post a new pic, I’ll get a lot more views and messages. Most times I prefer to lay low though. |

To be all cynical and marketing-y about it … if you want people to contact you, then anything that puts you in people’s feeds is a good thing. Whether it’s posting a new pic, updating your status, displaying a new veri, or even just renewing your site supporter thing … it means people see you on their updates page.
But, y’know. That assumes you *want* people contacting you.  |
