These old radio shows hosted by Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant and Karl Pilkington have entertained me for years and I regularly make the rounds and listen to them from start to finish.
Hours of mental talk, from all sides and the fact that this was ever put on air astounds me. I think it's one of the best radio shows ever created and far more entertaining than anything of what is on offer today.
Just wondering if there are any others, who also love it?
Would be nice to just have comments from those who enjoy the fellas, but I'm realistic and know that people can't resist saying they hate something or someone and Ricky is often one of those people you either love or hate lol. |

Absolutely love Ricky Gervais. Most people who I silently disagree with on their posts hate him. He is marmite I guess.
His shows are exceptionally funny, his stand up is and he really doesn't give a fuck. |

"You know when you think to yourself I bet I could list the forum people who like him and those who don’t. That. .
I think he’s funny "
Nora I would put my money on you!
There will be another lady on here later who i am expecting to say yes too. |

I think XFM is now Radio X. Not a big fan of Moyles (although he has got better with age) but I really struggle to find anyone funnier than Johnny Vaughan - certainly on the radio.
Apologies for side track! |

Nice to see some others who enjoy their work! It's one of those periods in time, where it all fit together perfectly and it's great to be able to relive that.
As for Ricky himself (mostly because he tends to be the "controversial" one in conversations), the main thing I took from his comments was that you cant get offended on behalf of someone else.
That always resonated with me, because I've never been offended by any joke aimed at me. I'm more likely to laugh and join in. I think if you're offended all the time, at every little thing people say, it must be bloody tiring lol. I struggle to wake up each day, let alone anything else!
It's a very classically British thing to take the piss out of each other and make edgy jokes about certain subjects. Even jokes that are risqué and have shocked me a little have still been funny and clearly in good jest.
We need to laugh now more than ever. The world is shit and it just keeps on getting worse.
As soon as you start censoring everything, what are we left with? Knock-knock jokes? What a boring world that would be. I love a good cheesy knock-knock jokes, but not all the time. Variety is the spice of life, as they say.
The way I see it, is that if you don't like it, don't watch or listen. Nobody is forcing anybody. Funnily enough though, people who hate certain celebrities spend the most time following them, therefore create the most traffic to their material. Mad, eh? |

"I’ve never seen his stand up just bits and bobs on the telly. I loved Extras.
Have you seen the outtakes? Hilarious.
In fact outtakes from Derek, Afterlife and Extras are incredibly funny"
The outtakes from Derek are probably my favourite |

Why do they need anybody's 'Show' on music radio statios?
Just play music please and maybe have a continuity announcer who says what a track was AFTER it has been played (in case we tuned in part way through).
Worst of the lot are mindless 'Breakfast Shows' with inane chit chat between two opposite sex presenters. The music content all but disappears from about 6am. I shout "Just play some bloody music" at the radio.
Some of us still want relaxing music in bed. Not everyone wants irritating with morning waffle.
Haven't heard Ricky Gervais yet but thanks for the warning. |
