I’m going French - taking applications for a mistress
Jump to: Newest in thread
It’s a leap year, it’s February 29th, and there are all sorts of traditions and superstitions about. It’s the day for women to propose. Here in Scotland women are supposed to wear red if they do it. In Ireland men who say no are obliged to hand over a consolatory gift.
Since I’m already well and truly married, I’m going French and taking applications to be my mistress.
I think the term mistress has been co-opted by the kink scene and turned into a description of the domme type, so I’d like to start reclaiming it for gorgeous bits on the side. Laissez-faire ladies with impeccable style and kissable lips.
And since it’s the 29th, this is the day for mistress applications to leap into my inbox. (See what I did there? Leap? No? Oh, never mind.)
Have at it, lovely ladies of the forums. My box is open and I’m waiting. |

It can still take off, but you may find it worth looking at moving to France with the current Mrs RTG.
French women are far more practised in the art than British women.
I speak as someone who won't marry nor, by extension, require a mistress.
But if you're gonna do it, France will probably be the place to maximise it.
Bon courage! |

"Funnily enough, I do have a house in France. Where do you think I got the inspiration? "
Inspiration? That word itself, ours via France (by "ours" I do of course mean Scots as well as English).
Does the Auld Alliance give you extra privileges too? |

"Does the Auld Alliance give you extra privileges too?
I’m only an adopted Scot. But it does make me more welcome down there than most rosbif’s"
My kids were educated at the Lycée, my best friend is Parisian, and my hilarious attempts at French tend to give me a warm embrace as well.
In fact, in Scotland too, as I'm extremely pro-Indy, for everyone's benefit (long long long story, another day). |

Imagine if a new or not so popular man had posted this and the grief they’d get! .
I like married men so I don’t think anyone should get grief but it just shows how fab works!
Just an observation RTG, nothing against you, I adore you
Good luck finding your mistress |

Oh so true Nora. But they don't tend to post with this amount of self-deprecating charm.

They'd just get ignored which seems to be the norm |

"(I had this idea over in Felix’s thread about leap year and thought maybe it deserved a thread of its own.) "
I couldn’t agree more mon ami! And I fully expect you to be inundated with offers to sérvice your côck. Perhaps an offering of du vin, du pain et du boursin will help things along.
And a truckload of gauloises!

"Aside from cancelled plans and disappointment, what would you offer your mistress? "
Well that’s the thing isn’t it? What does a mistress get from her role? And what sort of woman does it suit, or appeal to?
I think it’s about getting all the fun parts of a relationship without the day-to-day responsibilities and commitments. So it suits a free spirit rather well.
Would you like the romance, the sex, the flirtation and the company in a way that lets you choose when to engage and when not to? Without any of the home life, worrying about the bills, or hearing each other complain about their day at work? Do you want the glamour without the grit? Then maybe being a mistress is for you.

Sounds great. Will I be maintained in a luxurious downtown penthouse? |

I think ‘bit on the side’ is a very British, almost Carry-on film, way of looking at it. I remember watching a documentary about infidelity as part of French culture (which is patronising as hell in itself, it’s more a Northern French, even just Parisian, idea …) and there was a conversation with a woman who described in detail how her husband’s mistress played a vital role, sharing parts of her husband’s life she had no interest in. Very one-sided and impossibly romantic, but fascinating nonetheless. |

It’s not romantic!! It’s logical. Please don’t call me romantic |

"Q: How does a Frenchwoman hold her liquor?
A: By the ears.
It’s important to make a potential suitor laugh. Good work, Davina. Keep it up."
Oh, if you think you're laughing now, just wait till you get me into bed. |

I'm all for romance, sex, dates and stuff. I want the boyfriend experience without the extra washing or the need to fit someone into all my plans.
I might need to steel your idea and start my own thread |

Very true Nora, this would have gone a totally different way.
I'm not into married men however popular.

British men are terrified of going into a full-blown affair. Coz of teh feels and all that. they prefer to use the terms “friends with benefits” “fuck buddy” rather than mistress.
#notallmen, of course.
I’d love to be a mistress, but I demand lots of attention… |

RTG, good luck and I hope you find that. I think being a mistress can work very well when it works, is an utter shitstorm when it doesn't. This bit on the side notion, this "experience" thing that seems to be going on in the fora today all suggest a kind of roleplay.
I'm not really here for role-playing. I'm too much of a soft romantic natured sort and I think - why can't we embrace having tender moments without it being a "bfe"? The poly in me thinks you can. It can fit in to part of your life without being all of your life. |

Where’s the “self-depricating” and “charm”? Your response merely highlighted what Nora had pointed out and based on who the OP is in the Forum. |
