It's February 29th. According to tradition, which I think is Irish, women are "permitted" to propose during a leap year - and on 29th February only.
So ladies, have you ever done this? Would you? Will anyone here be proposing marriage or any other kind of proposition today? (Bonus points if the proposition is coming my way)
Guys, have you ever been proposed to? How did it go?
I'll start with my experience. I was once proposed to and foolishly I accepted. It wasn't February 29th. Actually, I was so shocked at the time that my decision-making was flawed and I said yes out of circumstances rather than love. Lots of people around me could see this but no-one dared tell me. I don't like being told what to do!
Although I did love her, it wasnt really the right timing for me. The subsequent marriage lasted almost eight years, at least five good ones. But it was somehow imbalanced from the start. She eventually wanted to be the lead on everything whereas I like to share or lead. I guess that her proposal reflected her desire to set the pace. I live and learn. |
