I am looking to take up a new hobby, something to get me out the house and meet people. Problem is I have literally no idea what to do.

Join an Astronomy club. Honestly it's so amazing. You meet amazing people and you get to learn about the night sky. Plus, they are very accommodating in that you don't even need a telescope if you want to start and can go with them and learn with their telescopes.
Being an avid astronomer for 20 odd years now, this was how I got my start. |

Not a huge fan of fishing itself but I personally find it very therapeutic to gut, clean and fillet a fresh fish for a meal outdoors

I enjoy going to a local weight watchers, and getting a just eat delivered... its a great way to make new friends

I like the gym for my mental health. 5 a side is good exercise and has a decent social side, join a chess club for meeting people and mental stimulation, do a night school course anything you fancy |
