My younger brother is always saying I have " too much stuff" around my house whe he visits.....mainly music related and books etc...but if you are in your 50s and 60s surely you will have plenty of "stuff" around your house...especially if you have a hobby you really like...obviously i say i am collecting and not hoarding.

An ex of mine was always telling me I had too much stuff. By which she meant my drum kits, guitars, amps and so on.

At one point she tried to sell one of my drum kits. That's why she's an ex.

Yes. I’d like to say it’s because I’m a maximalist and I like cosy feeling homes which having more stuff seems to make.

But realistically I do have a tendency to hoard stuff so I think it’s that.

Yes, but the problem is that sometimes this 'stuff' comes in useful for me or others, which validates that it was legitimate to keep all this 'stuff'

Oooh, I love doing laundry, and I don't dislike washing up. I'm on my way

OP, yes I have too much stuff - I used to try and pretend to myself it was "normal" at a certain age to have stuff from life. Last year I lost the second of my parennts (the other 12 months before) - they had a house FULL of stuff, my brother and I are still going through and finding more - it's heart breaking to just dump things that meant so much to them, yet we can't take it all, and any selling feels so slow.

I now know I have too much stuff and a lot of mine has to go.

I guess what I'm trying to say is "too much" depends on the eyes you are looking through, mine have changed; as long as you're happy with yours all is fine.

I am having a week of decluttering this week. Booked annual leave from work just for this purpose.

Fed up of having so much crap in the house that I keep hanging onto. Gotta be ruthless

We both have stuff. We store it neatly and it's nobody else's damn business, we both have hobbies that require a fair bit of kit and interests that require a lot of books. A couple of people recently have commented on it

and I'm on the verge of going into their homes and pointing out that they don't have enough stuff.

Our home is clean and tidy, we're comfortable and happy in it.

Can you use the main rooms in your home, walk around the house unimpeded, cook, use the bathroom, watch telly, sleep in the bed? If yes, you're not hoarding

Yes! Mostly kids toys. Just taken two large bags of bits to the charity shop, and will keep chipping away at it - but not getting rid of any of my LPs or CDs though, that's for sure!

Love being a minimalist , just having what you need is so much better.

It’s not for everyone but it works for me.

I don’t like mess and “stuff” looks messy. As long as it has a place I’m good with it. My loft on the other hand is chaos

As long as we're not counting houseplants, I am quite minimal. I don't like having lots of stuff.
