Are you a white pepper or black pepper person?
All I remember as a kid was white pepper on the table, but now I just buy black pepper.
White pepper only gets used if I cook a Chinese dish or on a bacon barm.

I use black pepper.
Based on the contents of my kitchen I need a recipe for black pepper, captain Morgan and a suspect looking …’thing’ in the fridge I’m too scared to remove. |

",…
Is there an underlying meaning behind the choice OP that we're unaware of?"
I don’t know. I don’t know when it crept in. But if you watch cooking programs, that’s all they seem to use. So maybe it’s that? |

I prefer black pepper two hut some dishes like asian chinese ones suit more white pepper as do cetrain types of fish and sauces. White on has a little more pungent/aromatic flavour and less is more |

It entirely depends on what I'm doing. I cook a lot of asian-inspired food and use white pepper for that.
If I'm making a chicken sandwich I'll use white pepper, which my grandfather used to do for me when I was a kid.
If I'm cooking more Mediterranean style food I use black pepper, I also use black pepper when seasoning red meat, or to make a tin of soup a bit more interesting.
I wouldn't be able to say which I used more.

I have ground white pepper for my pie, mash and liquor and cheese on toast; ground black pepper for anything I cook for children, and two pepper grinders-one with black peppercorns, one with mixed peppercorns.

"I don’t add seasoning to my food. Unless it’s vinegar which I pop on fish and on chips.
I just can't imagine not seasoning food."
I read somewhere that most food has enough salt in it without adding any extra and that has stuck with me. Pepper I just don’t think of. |

I guess it depends what you're eating. I try to avoid processed or packaged foods so, nothings added.
I don't use much salt though. Mainly pepper, chilli powder, garlic (fresh or powder) and for the last two years MSG. sooooo much better than salt! |

I like fresh ground black pepper and ground rock salt. I use loafs as my foods all home cooked without flavourings. I make dressings like oil, salt, pepper , lemon & roll salmon in a mix of ground salt pepper and rosemary. Tomatoes and basil can take loads of salt and pepper too….feeling really hungry now |

I mostly use black but I have about 5 different types in the cupboard.
Also I salt everything with celtic sea salt as everyone needs salt in their diet. There isn't eniugh salt in food for the body to function properly long term.
