I had a lot on recently and having a bit of me time. You know I am a foodie so just booked an afternoon tea at this lovely place that you can build your own selection. I chose things I like and to be honest I like almost everything.

* Smoked salmon, soft cheese and dill

* Egg and watercress

* Cheddar and ham with * marmalade glaze

* Chicken, rocket, and crème fraîche

* Rare roast beef, and horseradish

and

* Vanilla Mille-feuille

* Choolate torte

* Lemon cream doughnuts

* Apple crumble cupcake

* Sultana scone, clotted cream and strawberry jam

A selection of french macaroons comes with it too and of course any tea or coffee you like and a glass of champagne.

Opinions please - anything you would't go for? What dort of stuff you like for your afternoon tea

Your choices are well varied but it seems large to me. 5 sandwiches, 5 cakes plus a scone

I thought so too but they are only small.

If I am being ultra picky I would say soft cheese, creme fraiche and horseradish are all quite similar textures.

What were some of the sandwich options you didn't choose ?

Good lord, that has me salivating before breakfast! You can keep the scone but I'll dive into the rest, please

I know what you mean but like that. There were lots from chicken tikka to brie and grapes, prawn (which normally like) and even a pulled pork one

Good for you treating yourself MB! Sometimes that’s just what we need, eh. I’d have all that except the beef and horseradish. I love rare roast beef but HATE horseradish. Bleurgh.

Sounds delightful!

Sometimes we need a treat!

For me, I wouldn't choose an egg-based sandwich, and a glass of fizz is always a nice addition with the cakes!

Omg that sounds lush - love it all and definitely needs champers! We had a lovely one in The Lake District and booked a room at the hotel to make the most of treating ourselves. Had a jacuzzi bath with TV and mirrored ceiling.

I've never had afternoon tea but I'm dairy intolerant so that rules out so many options.

Just finding a cafe or coffee shop that properly caters for those with intolerances rather than just a bland prepacked selection is a treat in itself.

Yes not many places cater for that sadly.
