Is posting a thread or a comment within a thread attention seeking
Jump to: Newest in thread
Yes or No depending on who posts it and the reasons behind them posting and also depending on what side of the bed other people get out of before they post.....
Some people only have one side of the bed to get out of .... they have no choice..... where does that leave us.I'm supposed to be out .. best make a move.
Maybe i wanted the attention. |

Yes. All human interaction is attention seeking, fundamentally.
That's neither good nor bad in isolation. Some forms may be good or bad or cause people to draw positive or negative inferences.
The idea that anything means nothing is probably the sign of an idle mind. |

I think it is. I also think attention seeking doesn't have to be loud or showy or needy. We're on here, we all must want attention in some form.
What I really think? People really overthink the forums. And that's coming from me. |

"I think people rarely post in the hope that nobody will notice them. " Exactly this especially applies to guys mind with the "help me with my profile" threads but even so you can comment and still be missed do you think thats a deliberate thing on some peoples part? |

Yes, I do think it's deliberate but everyone can choose who they talk to. |

I'm usually looking for attention when I post but for different reasons.
I don't blow smoke up arses so it's never done in the hope of a shag.
Sometimes it's because I think of something funny or flippant and react quickly to another post.
Sometimes it's to counteract sweeping comments that are taken as gospel.
More often than not it's in a "seriously, why is everyone ignoring the obvious and claiming they can't see this shit?" way.
Still attention seeking but attention to detail or the fact the emperor is naked so why are you all admiring his new clothes? |

Do people post to seek attention? Undoubtedly.
Others I guess just use the forums to kill time.
Not all posts get the attention sought and some get attention that the poster didn't anticipate. Posting can often be a double edged sword.
People use all manner of means to garner attention. Photos. Videos. Cam chat. PM's. And yes, the forums.
It is what it is and always will be. |

All posts are inherently attention seeking, just from the assumption that they'll be viewed. It's natural that some people will have objectives that aren't perhaps in the greater good and we can elect to ignore them. I'd prefer us to generally add to the quality of the discussion by staying with the bounds of the topic, not having shit bombs that disrupt. |
