I’ve never been to Nottingham
Jump to: Newest in thread
Never been to a football match. (I don't like football).
.
Never been to Woburn Abbey. (Don't like caged animals)
.
Never been to Land's End or John O'Groats (too far).
.
Never been to Space (but would like to go. But space is very hostile and I'd want to zoom around for years and stuff on my own rocket).
.
Never been to Oxford. Been to Cambridge, which is probably the same.
.
Never been to Africa. (Too hot).
.
Never been to Oz. (Too lethal) |

Parts of Africa are definitely not. When I lived in Kenya I wore thermals for a large portion of the year!!!
And I built a snowman once in SA... also too cold at times for my liking!
However, totally agree about football |

Oh, Africa is pretty lethal too, and it's not the wildlife. |

Norfolk is lovely, the broads are lovely to go for a boat ride on xx"
Did it a year or so back. Great place, great fun would love to go back but the roads in Norfolk are horrendous. Got to the county in about 8 hours or so. It took about 4 to get to the Broads from there! |

Oh yes - winter is bloody cold inland. Johannesburg and Pretoria are 2000m above sea level, and hundreds of miles inland. I did the bush phase of my basic training, north of Pretoria, and it used to go down to between -4°C and -8°C every night. We were in tents. Brrrr. |

"Been to lots of places but not to Shetland
Oh you should. It's amazing "
Some interesting webcams there for those with no easy way to visit. The town square one is good during the summer midnight sun season. Watch the police car pulling up for fish and chips!
Unfortunately, the best auroral camera has been faulty for most of the winter but was fantastic at night during November. |

That’s probably for the best…
Have you visited? Or have you just watched The Brothers Grimsby? "
Been a few times. With work, with football, and oddly “sightseeing”. It was a sight, but not really worth seeing! |

Only joking, Yorkshire is nice .

Been fortunate to get to much of Scotland so far, would really love to see Orkney as a tourist in summer "
In summer they run a great day trip from Inverness. Coach to John O'Groats passenger ferry to the island then another coach takes you round the island visiting all the points of interest. Then home again. It's a fabulous day out |

For various reasons l gladly left Nottingham and ended up near Liverpool. Here they seem to accept me with a few raised eyebrows and gropes. In Nottingham l thought there were a lot of trans gals just trying too hard to have a good time . I love the Liverpool accent , don't miss Nottingham at all ,nothing against students but Nottingham seems to be taken over by them .There was a well known Jewellers on the main high st, its now student flats. Same everywhere in Nottingham , l dont feel that vibe where l am now. |

Bolton Town centre seems less run down than Wigan. Also there's some impressive buildings in the centre. I quite like the newish middlebrook/ horwich area too.
Anyone reading this don't go to St Helens though.. |

Bolton town centre is on its arse. They've done nice things with the library, though.
I don't I'm gonna win any tourist board prizes for promoting either town, though |

I can imagine..I haven't been into the centre for about 4 years.
My theory is in about a decade most town centres will have only certain bars and restaurants for evening visitors.
Whilst retailers will have (mainly) moved to newer retail parks. |

Tried to go to Dublin once, but flight called off due to fog.
That put me off trying again, and since then I've used Google Earth for a mosey around. I was in Canada the other night and it looked lovely. I spend hours on Google Earth. |

As for Nottingham…..it can be as good as you want it to be and many great things to do like other big cities. If anyone needs to be shown the sights and sounds then willing to help with that |

Oh, I've been to Nice
And the isle of Greece
When I sipped champagne on a yacht
I moved like Harlow in Monte Carlo
And showed 'em what I've got
I've been undressed by kings
And I've seen some things
That a woman ain't supposed to see
I've been to paradise
But I've never been to me |

I've lived in Nottingham a long time now. It does have a reputation for violence ("Shottingham", et cetera) but it's *significantly* better than it used to be.
I'd also like to recommend Purple Mamba. Lovely little club operated by some outstanding people!
