When was the last time you complimented or thanked someone for doing their job well? Do you? Or have you been on the receiving end?
I moved last year and have joined a new GP surgery, had need of them recently and was given the best, holistic, brilliant support by the person I saw. I was so impressed so dropped a card into her today.
Some people really demonstrate care in the work they do - I salute everyone who does this.

I always thank the bus driver on the way on and off the bus, but nothing more than that.
I worked with a really good recruiter to get my existing job. He asked for a trust pilot review. I spent a good hour or so detailing my experience and posted it. He called me up almost in tears as he had never had such a glowing review. |

In a ball gown because that's how we roll in N. Devon |
I thanked the self checkout machine at tesco today. Because I'm just so cool
Other than that... trying to think of the last time I interacted with a human bean doing their job... erm... ooh. Last Friday I thanked the scaffolders next door for being nice and not starting work even though they were there before 8. |

That's lovely.
I am a big believer in recognising someone's hard work.
Last time I took my very large and very reactive German Shepherd to the Vet they were amazing with him, very respectful and non judgemental, along with handling him brilliantly.
Next day I took in a hamper of posh coffee, posh teabags, hot chocolate, mallows, squirty cream along with packets of chocolate cookies, biscuits, shortbread and chocolate bars.
He's off the Vet again tonight so another hamper incoming lol

I make a point of thanking my assistants every day for all that they have done and do, I like to make sure they know I appreciate the efforts that they make to make my work day run more smoothly |

"Just comes atuomatic to me when being served be it a shop delivery for a take away
Or something so really not sure if that counts "
It counts. And I agree.
I guess I was more thinking like RealMissShady where you made additional effort, dropped a card or email as follow up or thank you gift etc. beyond what I would hope would be normal manners and courtesy! |

If someone has really stepped up then I will always make an effort to call it out positively. I will often give juniors at work explicit praise if they are doing a good job or going beyond what is expected - I know from personal experience what it means for a senior person to take notice and how it is good for you. |

Last month, I saw a GP at my doctors surgery who is not my usual GP, she was brilliant listened to me and got me straight into hospital for tests which basically saved my life. I gave her a thank you card and some flowers which does not seem enough for what she did for for me. |

I complimented my Creative Director on the brilliance of a huge project I wasn’t involved with. And I received two compliments from two unexpected but welcome sources for my own work last week. I’m also polite and thankful when I’m out and about. I always return my coffee cups so the staff don’t have to come and tidy up, and we both always clean up after our little one who makes a mess. |

Being listened to properly is immense. Glad the follow up was direct and worked |

It costs nothing to be nice and appreciate people, at any point you can be sitting next to someone falling apart inside so always try to be helpful, respectful, supportive, and most importantly there when they need you
Thanks everyone |

I either thank people personally or write. The last time I thanked someone (apart from the day to day retail/transport etc workers) was a woman at British Gas who helped me sort out an issue that my dad had. She wasn't able to tell me specifics as I'm not named on his account but she went above and beyond to reassure me that I had no need to be concerned about calls and visits he'd received. |
