Hello everyone

If you remember I posted a week or so ago about handing my notice in.

I handed my notice and everything was fine…or so I thought.

I walk in today and my deputy manager, who I have quite a good relationship with, has told me that my manager has been shit talking me because I handed in my notice.

He’s told her that he’s glad I’m leaving because he never liked me anyway, that I ruin everyone’s work and that I’m lazy, and that he doesn’t care that im leaving. He’s also made up blatant lies about conversations me and him have had (and there’s proof he’s lied.)

I know this wasn’t said to my face, but is there anything I can do here? I know I’m leaving, but I’ve given this company more time than he has (he’s been there 3 months I’ve been there nearly 2 years) and I think it’s disgusting I’m being treated like this.

I’ve been absolutely raging all day and now I just feel really betrayed and pissed off and upset.

If I was you I will just let it be as you are leaving. Don't let it upset you. Are you going elsewhere. If so look forward to that than waste your energy. Just my opinion of course.

Don’t compromise the good relationship with your assistant manager by putting them in a difficult situation with the bad mouthing manager. Trash talking exiting employees is poor behaviour but not unusual (and often signs of a bad manager). You’re leaving. Focus on what comes next.

Document it and email it to yourself so it’s date stamped. Chances are you won’t need it but if this plum wants to be a dick about references etc. it could be useful in future.

I wouldn't waste your time and energy worrying about those people who are talking a out you. You are leaving and don't ever have to spend time in their company again. Rise above them, they aren't worth your head space.

Don't let it get to you, you are leaving and your boss isn't worth the effort.

I went through something similar years ago when I had quit my job and my boss then put me through a disciplinary hearing after I had left! Some managers are just total fucking idiots and aren't worth shit

Have a word with him, you've nothing to lose but record it on your phone. It's a reflection on him and if anything it'll serve other employee's well to see what's he's about, they should be running for the doors.

As you said your manager been shit talking all day .Sounds to me as of he really will miss you he have to work a bit more .The Manager sounds like a lot Managers propmoted beyond ther own ability.

So take heart your leaving put behind you wish all the best new job and life .

Why has assistant manager told you this?

How is this useful or helpful to you?

It sounds like the whole place is very toxic.

Be thankful you are moving on. Ignore the lot of them as far as possible.

If any more comments come to light, ask the person telling you if they are a first hand witness to what they are saying is being said. If they are just repeating gossip, ignore, if they are a witness: ask if they will confirm this if questioned and if yes, go to hr. If there is no HR go to manager’s manager to discuss.
