How can you get people to open your message fully rather than just reading what's in preview. There only so much you can say in preview so if they think they know what it says they don't open. |

You’ve been on here a long time op so think out of the box and use catchy headers like “I agree” or “thank you for” which could peak their interest slightly enough to open your “hi” “ faf” message.
This has been an old person helping a young person reply.

Also as a side note, I, Nilly will often look at the profile prior to opening a message. If we are clearly not a match I ll just delete the message as our profile has clearly not been read  |

This! 
The preview makes no difference. Nor does the message.
It's what's in your profile and photos that counts. Get that right and you've a fighting chance of messages being read at least.
But generally you'll never even know if they've looked at that either because 'ninja mode'.

As others have already intimated above, most people will glance at your profile before opening your message, if at all.
The odds are stacked against you because your message is one of hundreds languishing in their ever-increasing Inbøx. |

Unfortunately you can't op
Most will look at a profile first and if it doesn't appeal to them, they won't read your message.
I use several filters to reduce mail and even then, I must delete most of my messages because I don't like their profile or the sender hasn't read my profile. |

Imagine I'm a salacious, stunning, sexually charged woman (I know, I look amazing. Right?)
And you message me your usual "hey good looking. What you up to?"
I'll look straight at your profile, notice you cannot accommodate. Notice you have 2 meets scheduled for MY PLACE (cheeky fucker! At least ask before inviting yourself) and then I'd delete your message.
The reason being. Is as genuine as you may actually be. Your profile doesn't scream genuine. And that my friend will be 99.9% of the reason the actual ladies, men, (whomever is your preference) are deleting your sent mail, unread.

Reading too much into it. I don't know why it's not like an email in that you have to open it to read it and not have half the text on display. Also the profile is very rarely looked at when any message is left unopened. So all that stuff about profiles is what can I say... |

Part of the reason that messages get left on unread is pestering and abuse.
Many men will send multiple messages and if a message is shown as read they will use that as a reason to follow up.
If you are left on unread you can take it that they have looked at your profile are are not interested.
Or
They have read your message and marked it unread again to deal with later.
A lot of people look at profiles in anonymous/ninja mode because again some men will pester if they 'saw you looking'.
It's almost certainly not just the content of your messages. |
