I’m renovating my staircase, and the hand rail still has some paint on this hard to reach area.. I was planning to varnish the hand rail but will it look odd with a painted section below for a section of it ? Any advice is appreciated |

Hey thanks for the reply. It’s a hard to reach area and my blow torch can’t reach, neither can my hand.. it’s the space between two floors that the hand rail section crosses |

your on about that ackward area at top of first flight to the landing part
the blow torch will reach and you can use either a small wood chisel or a pointing trowel to scrape it
other than that you may need an extension part for the blow lamp so it becomes more of a fine point to get inbetween |

Do you know someone with teeny tiny hands and fingers who can reach it for you?
I’d say a heat gun sounds like a more reasonable option. A blow torch conjures up an image of a Charlflamed handrail. |

Thank you for all the messages. I spent the last three hours meticulously using a small chisel and doing it extremely slowly… my neck is broken and my arms are twisted and I’m definitely sure I’ve dislocated my hip haha
I’ve painstakingly completed it! |
