I find the structure of conspiracy theories - the global elite have lied about X and built up all this evidence to fool you, but only I, Joe Schmoe in my pants in my mum's basement, know the truth (buy my products to find out more) - to be unserious per se. |

"Gotta say, we never landed on the moon, surely.... Any others you believe?" So how did that plaque get there? The one that you can shine a laser off, if you happen to have a sufficiently strong laser just lying around.

There's loads
I believe big tobacco conspired to lie about the health implications of smoking.
I believe big oil conspired to lie about impact of carbon fuel use on the climate
I believe that Lehman Brothers conspired to rig financial instruments and crashed the global economy
I could go on. We are surrounded by conspiracies that destroy lives and the planet. |

None of them. Everything you've ever heard on the t.v and media and from every government ever is and always has just been the truth. Nothing has ever been hidden from people.
You're a tinfoil hat wearing basement dwelling lunatic if you think the truth about anything has been subverted in your lifetime. What kind of nutcase isn't 100% confident that everything they know is definitely the truth on all matters.

Even though the media has been manipulated since the news reels in WW2 lying about our losses but bragging the victories? Course it's all manipulated, there are always 2 sides to every story |

A lot of conspiracy theories fall apart when you consider the logistics of making them happen.
The amount of people involved (especially those with very specialised skills etc), the amount of equipment needed and the mechanisms to put it all into place...
Either somebody would have noticed during or would of blabbed after (no deathbed confessions etc). |

Foreign powers that would love nothing more than to provide proof it was fake haven't done so, Russia was first to orbit, first to put a man in space, and congratulations to USA for getting to the moon. Several of USAs enemies have the capability to verify the authenticity and aren't likely to have been bribed by NASA. You think Putin or Xi can be paid off? |

There's actually 3 sides to every story as there's the 'losers' version, the 'winners' version and the truth. |

"Exactly! Also it'd be more difficult to fake than actually achieve it."
The details never, ever iron out with this shit. It's all just further evidence of the conspiracy. Apparently.
Rule one of conspiracy theories: they're never wrong. It's just a deeper, more complex plot |

Correct! But like MK Ultra, it wasn’t always. Before recently it was a crackpot conspiracy theory |

Conspiracies and conspiracy theories are not the same thing.
Conspiracies tend to be documented early, and before long questions start being asked by reputable sources who have access to evidence.
Conspiracy theories are endlessly complicated, never invalidated, grifts that prove that the people who spout them are super clever and important and/ or need to be sent more money. |

They are a very effective way of getting people to look at and put energy into things of no consequence whilst ignoring the real big deal things like climate breakdown and global poverty.
They also can divide people who might have things in common from working together. I think big pharma are dodgy, manipulate data, who profit from the ill. Whilst doing some good work to develop life changing medication.
But anti-vax people are unlikely to work with me as I think on balance the vaccine programme was beneficial. |

Yeah. Big companies with lots of power are bad, particularly when you're beholden to them.
Therefore... maybe we should do something about that and work out how to balance freedom with abuses of power. Not therefore thimerosal thalidomide depopulation vaccine holocaust wake up sheeple. |

Sometimes I wonder to myself how the USA has such a faff getting a rocket/shuttle/whatever into Space successfully in more recent times, when back in the day (with less sophisticated equipment etc) they managed to get folk on the moon.
I’m sure there is a perfectly reasonable and logical and no doubt a highly technical reason, but sometimes I do find myself thinking “hmmmm” to myself.

The USA put so much resource into beating the Soviets to be the first to the moon. After that the spacerace shifted its focus to military and communication satellites which were either seen as a priority or of commercial gain. |

I think I'm naturally cynical.
That cynicism however extends to both mainstream narratives and the conspiracy theories that counter them.
I don't really have time for the huge industry that conspiracy theories have become. ("Buy my bottled water because the government puts harmful chemicals in tap water " ala Alex Jones..etc ..)
Having said that, occasionally, some of them are true. As mentioned in some of the previous posts such as the declassification of operation paperclip. Some of the descendants of the original nazis involved have been speaking out a fair bit in the last decade or so. (I think the present head of nasa has also stated that werner von braun, one of the original members of nasa, should have been tried for war crimes for using Jewish sl*ve labour and hanging them for working 'too slowly" at his rocket factory, rather than fast tracking him for American citizenship after ww2 in order to exploit his scientific expertise.)
I think there's also a difference between conspiracy theories and whistle blowers.
I quite like whistle blowers.
On a fashion note , I've upgraded from wearing my mums knickers, in her basement.
I wear a string vest.
With my backside hanging out.
In my own room

They all have a grain if truth but usually if you start to really look at the thought processes behind them and apply common sense, logic and probability all but a vanishingly tiny percentage are shown to be exactly what they are... conspiracies. It's definitely true that there's an elite society of lizards walking among us in human form though. |

I don’t know if I believe it. But there’s a conspiracy that the ship that sank in 1912 wasn’t the Titanic but the sister ship, I think the Olympic. They were very similar and there was an insurance related fraud involved because the Olympic was involved in a crash during sea trials or something.
As I say, not sure I believe it but it’s interesting. Also, assuming it is the titanic that sank, there’s a theory that the reason it sank is because there was a fire in the coal hold (quite a common thing back then) which weakened the hull and as a result, the iceberg caused more damage than it should have done. |

Edward iv was an illegitimate son of an ordinary Burgundian soldier and did not have a true claim to the throne in 1471.
Bottom line is that our King should be a sheep herder from Australia.
But then again, probably with the suspicion that this was true, Henry Tudor always claimed that he was King by conquest and not succession.
Sorry.....bit historic or hysteric |

Paperclip was a genuine operation. The Americans got rocket technology (eg.Dr Wernher Von Braun,Nazi party and Allgemeine SS member.Died in Virginia US)Over 1500 Nazi scientists went to the US on Paperclip. The British had Operation Surgeon, over 100 Nazi scientists working on aeronautical projects, plus many scientists from IG Farben the chemical conglomerate that made Zyklon B.One aim of both projects was to deny Russia this knowledge/technology.The Nazis in South America were nothing to do with the US,they were not scientists, they were military/political wing (primarily SS) fugitives aided by organisations such as Stille Hilfe. |
