Good question. I get the same. Winks from people hundreds of miles away and I often wonder why.
I did ask someone once and they said it was just to say they liked the profile not because they expected it to result in anything from it. A kind of acknowledgment as such. I woumd have preferred a short message as it would have been less ambiguous.

If that’s the case they should message us, but seriously, we get loads from Scottish couples, maybe we should move up there? |

I e winked many profile where I know there no chance of ever nearing, or I just liked their profile or they had nice photos, and other reasons. But I wink and don’t message Because I don’t want to waste their time when I know (or think) we are never going to talk or meet. So a wink is just to say - I saw you and I liked what I saw.
^thats how I use a wink. |

That’s a very fair point actually and a whole new way to look at them |

We had a couple from Canada wink us, when I asked them they said it was because they liked the profile and we where what they were looking for but because of the distance they left a wink and moved on. |

And also, it makes sense to me. Those that aren’t looking to meet anyone aren’t going to pay attention to the winks, but if they are interested in who they are attracting, they might look at those winks. You don’t know how they are using the site. We all do things differently. |

And thats pretty much the explanation i got. I guess we just take it as a compliment and if we want to acknowledge omit just send a thanks for the wink msg or just accept it and move on.
We all use them a little differently so i guess just ask if your not sure why youve been sent one and want to know.

Maybe they are winking because they like your profile and are happy to chat. Try winking back and if they know you like their profile then I'm sure they'll send you a nice message. If you aren't interested in chatting then ignore the winks and get on with your life. It's no biggie.... |

Also might have been from one of the forum games? But yes I completely understand. Don’t get many winks or loads of attention, so get quite excited when I do see them appear on my profile. Only for reality to kick in and realise they are no where near |
