Sick of being a doormat
Jump to: Newest in thread
I'm just sick and tired of being the person that everyone thinks it's ok to talk to like a piece of shit.
Work is ridiculous, due to my mild mannered nature and being a non confrontational person it seems people assume it's fine to treat me like a moron and a piece of crap.
Time for a new job |

Time for a new job " . There is only so much a worker can take from their manager I know this from personal experiences.Ironically after just over 8 years putting up with her crap she is the one leaving to go to another office |

I was a doormat working for a boss that had zero management skills and turned out it was the worst job ever.
He left. Then about 6 months later redundancies were being talked about. I left before redundancies were finalised. For the best job, I've ever had.
As one door closes another opens. Good look in your job search op. |

I'm also non confrontational, even when knowing someone is taking the piss in a situation. But a person can't change thier nature. At the same time, it's the qualities of a persons nature non arseholes respect and like/love you for. |

OP I am sorry to hear that things are not going well.
I get the desire for new job but my key question would be: what would that change?
Have you always had issues at work because of your easy going personality or is it a recent thing because of new management? |

I'm so sorry your job is making you feel shit, I speak from experience... don't stay in the job any longer than necessary, you deserve to be treated well x hugs |

Can’t know for sure if it’s you or them or a bit of both.
Some managers and colleagues can indeed be shit I’ve suffered workplace bullying myself, but in honesty very few actually enjoy confrontation but it’s a part of life.
Would you perhaps benefit from some assertiveness training? Build confidence at least?
Standing up for yourself can indeed be a learned skill. |

Life's too short to be in a shit job...but sadly some people cannot leave it for various reasons...I have seen managers sacked over bad behaviour when juniors have reported them to senior managers...but depends on how the culture is at your place. |

Maybe it's not the job; perhaps it's you... You say you have a mild-mannered nature about you. Which is a lovely quality to have but at time you need to be the one who says no and tell people ways they are impacting on you.
Think about this... Would you invite these co-worker for tea? If the answer is no, well, sorry to say this, you are as they are there in your head. |

"Thank you all. "
Hi OP ,
Speaking from experience. People who were miserable and now enjoying working at same office as me.
The problem is not you, it’s them.
Being soft spoken is one aspect they are taking advantage of.
These negative co- worker attitudes can stem from jealousy.
Don’t help them out, when they come asking for help.
Work for a good boss. Rot starts at the top. Nasty co- workers means a complicit boss.
You deserve better. |

Stand up for yourself & know your value also tell the owners / CEO they have created a culture where this is allowed.
Don’t underestimate your ability influence& change things , I once called out executives swearing and being sexist in the kitchen , people began to thank me after a while and the environment changed. New people coming in tend to follow others & what see is acceptable
