Anyone else trying to lose weight? Mine crept up due to a couple of health issues recently so decided to do something about it.
It's probably the most proactive I've been about it ever. But then I am older than I've ever been.

I lost 3 stone last year, only thing I’m doing differently is being more aware of what I’m eating & walking, when I say walking I mean marching for an hour each day, anything that gets your heart rate up for a minimum of 45 mins a day is good
Good luck |

Download an app called My Fitness Pal and record EVERYTHING you eat and drink, it is surprising how it all adds up throughout the day.
Set yourself realistic targets ie 10k steps a day and do not starve yourself.
Over the years I had joined Weight Watchers, Slimming World etc yet the weight always went back on. It wasn’t until I had a personal trainer that the penny finally dropped as her approach was totally different. I lost approximately 2 stone within a few months just by following a healthy diet and being more active.
I am still on the curvy side but I prefer to be like this and if I change my mind, I now have the knowledge how to change things.
Good luck x |

I’ve just started trying to get fit and lose weight again. I’ve improved my diet by reducing my carb intake. Also, I’ve increased my exercise - walking, resistance training and using my exercise bike again. I’ve lost a few pounds, maybe half a stone. Early days. |

All boils down to Calories in, calories out luckily I’m fairly slim but holidays etc add the pounds on… reduce booze, reduce carbs, increase exercise even if it’s using the stairs rather than the lifts… all helps… good luck! |

Thanks for all the positive messages. I'm definitely taking in less carbs, and balancing any exercise which is tricky due to my body making no insulin. It's definitely not easy.
I've lost about 4kg since the beginning of January.

Yep. Calorie deficit and consistency.
Consume a bit less than you need and you’ll burn fat and lose weight. Loads of stuff online about it.
Make it sustainable, so you stick to a new norm than crash and give up.
Obviously exercise helps create more of a deficit.
Adding some weight training also will help burn calories after too.
But diet is the first and foremost thing to pay attention to.
All the best with it. I suspect many of us are all on the same goals as you. |

I'm hoping to once I've worn my wedding dress, I dislike myself at the moment I've pilled it on due to meds and mocha's
I'm not one for calorie counting I tend to reduce portion size, stop drinking calories and change to low fats it's always worked in the past I'm hoping it'll work again.

Best of luck. It'll help, I'm sure, to have that goal.

I lost 6 1/2 stone after testing borderline type 2 diabetic. Calorie deficit, tried every diet going but that was the only thing that worked for me. I've kept it off for 2 years now and I'm no longer near being type 2 diabetic...blood sugars are now normal again. Diets don't work, you need to change your eating habits permanently |

I've lost more than 10 stone, education on nutrition is the best thing for changing your lifestyle for major sustainable weight loss. Everyone is different and different things work better for different people but cutting down on processed sugar and bad fats is never a bad start. |

I'm going to lose at least another stone this year.
When I get my brain in gear I'll research the vegetables I can eat and look at some low FODMAP meals I can make myself.
Bread/wheat products and chocolate are the first to go.

10 stone! That is amazing. One of my many bad habits is sugar "addiction"... I find myself craving sweet stuff.. |

I also crave sugar and am always hungry how do you solve that? I’ve been trying to diet since January lose a few lbs then put it back on. I can do so well all week then all of a sudden I binge and when I say binge I really mean binge untold packs of crisps and bars of chocolate. |

You’re in the sugar lovers club op so talk to your go about an injection taken once a week to help your insulin.
It’s a hunger surprenant and is excellent in my opinion sans I lost 35 kg when I first started on it and I blood sugars were top notch.
Here it’s called trulcity but I know not what it’s called in the UK.
The first week is horrific because you feel as sick as ten dogs that are really sick but the 2nd week is ok well it was for me.
First time I used it I gave up after the first week because I didn’t know it got better.
Good luck.

Over the last year and a bit I've dropped from 19 and half stone down to 12 and half.
First and best thing I fixed was my sleep schedule, then started walking more, now do 4-5 miles daily, changed my eating habits, I eat once a day keto/carnivore, giving up bread was great, almost given up sugar (hardest addiction I've had to give up)
The only thing I would've changed is, adding dumbbells/calisthenics to my routine earlier.
Now it all fairly routine and I feel crap if I haven't walked lol but feel better than I did in my 20's
All about finding what works for you and what you enjoy, then slowly add it to your routine
Caught up with friends today, that haven't seen for a year, with some confusion about our meeting spot, when we found each other, his response was 'no wonder I couldn't see you, half of you is missing '
Lots of good advice on youtube, Best of luck |

Kind of like a couple of the others on here.
Dropped about 65lbs in three to four years. Although my weight fluctuates between 206 and 210lbs. I brought it down watching what I eat and exercise. Currently using a Nordic Track exercise bike. My main reason was getting bother with my right knee which I put down to overloading it with weight. I dropped five trouser sizes over the period.
It’s better to lose the weight gradually than crash as it tends to have more likelihood of not returning.
