"Is there an entry age for when a lady qualifies to be a cougar? Or is it just merely when they hunt the younger man?"
I’m not sure there’s a definition.
To me it was always about older women who wanted to date/meet much younger men.
But lots of men call me a cougar and I don’t consider myself older, nor do I chase after much younger men… |

This. I get told I'm an older woman on here a lot. It really isn't flattering to me. I maybe 40 but I still feel 25.
I'm also not looking for much younger men.
I used to think being a cougar might be fun but actually I like grown up men far to much.

MILF is another one of those horrid terms that men seem to apply to any woman over the age of thirty.

5 year age gap?
Not a cougar. In all seriousness there should be a generation or close to, between them.
A 25 year old isn’t a cougar. A 20 year old is still their age mate. They were in school at the same time. |

We are 21 and 40. We have both experienced sometime referring to me as a cougar before.
I think the age gap fits the label cougar
It used to bother me. For all of a day or so. Til he talked some sense into me and now it doesn’t bother either of us |

Yeah I mean if a woman describes herself as a cougar, that's a little different. But then even a famous cougar here on the forums has now slept with older men!
But I would argue you can do cougar like behaviour and the younger you are the less the age gap. It's kind of about maturity more than anything |

I believe so. Well, a mother or a surrogate mother (to the cub). The opposite dynamic is also well known. |

Firstly they’re women, not girls.
Secondly there’s no stigma about a twenty year old dating a twenty five year old. They’re both basically the same age and they both share the same cultural/generational experiences.
The point of a cougar is the generation/cultural gap. As I understand it, it come from the idea that an older woman can teach a younger man about life and sex.
A 25 year old woman is unlikely to have much more cultural/sexual experience than a 20 year old man because of the way that women are shamed for having sex while men aren’t. |

I think it’s generally about the ‘old enough to be their mother’. I think people get the language wrong. The friend’s mum is a fantasy but I think it’s broader than that. It’s about a woman, old enough to be their mother that is not necessarily a mother. In fact I think most ‘cougars’ tend not to be mothers (have less hang ups about ‘you’re my kids age’) |

A field day is maybe a little of a misrepresentation
If the genders had been reversed she’d be banned from playing and cast aside by society
For the most part no one seemed to care they started dating when he was basically still in school |

I'm gonna respectfully disagree here but we are entitled to our own opinions right?!
The girls women debate is one in itself, I deal with alot of 20 something year old women as you call them and they would have to be called women
Also the younger generation anything goes. It's very common now for (sexual) women in their 20s to have had more sexual partners than the men unless they are the elite love island style good looking.
Alot of women graft to the same guy, which means alot of men in their 20s are left out. Maybe not a few generations ago, but that's happening now. Sexual liberation for women and all! |

40-49; Cougar
50-59; Jaguar
60-68; Pussycat
70-79; Cheetah
80-89; Leopard
90-99; Tiger
100+; Lion
