How many couples don't really do anything for valentines day?
We don't... I tend to get my finacee things throughout the year on whims... think it means more to not have to be seduced into thinking of her. |

Valentines is over rated and over priced. I've not bought or received anything in over 30yrs for Valentines
Like you said OP, recieving or buy gifts throughout the year without any reason, is more romantic.

"My partner and I make a point of not doing anything for Valentine's day. There's nothing less romantic than a forced gesture pushed by the retail sector."
We're the same. We've got our wedding anniversary which does actually mean something. |

We don't bother with presents and all that kind of stuff - just sincerely-written cards, mainly. We're not trying to convince each other with expensive baubles or evenings out in fancy restaurants and the like. It's just excess money which can be put to more practical use.
This year, it's sex, ordering a Chinese takeaway followed by watching the 1981 slasher My Bloody Valentine, accompanied by a couple of drinks.
Perfick. |
