I saw I have half an inch of space now that I’m tidying my room so of course I had to buy some new books 
Anyone else got a penchant for buying books they have no space for? |

I've heard it said that buying books and reading books are two separate hobbies. I think that's true. I certainly buy books all the time regardless of how many are already on my 'to read' shelf. |

I don’t even have a bookshelf atm  I have like a 6 cube shelf filled with books and then another cube filled with them and then another shelf filled with them and THEN a trolley filled with them…my life would be a whole lot easier with some bookshelves |

It's not books but I do have a habit of buying more toys, my bedroom is literally one step away from becoming a red room with everything I own lol |

Check ebay and charity shops. My cheapest bookshelf (not a typo) cost £1.20. |

"I buy mine from a local book market and once ive read them i give them back and buy another, at only £1 or £2 a book. It helps the stall out. Supporting local and not always buying online"
Yeah about 98% of my books are second hand either from charity shops or independent bookshops sale section; I feel weird when I buy a brand new book; it’s definitely a treat when I do!! |

I have a kindle too, but it just isnt the same. And I like having actual books all over the place. |

There is probably a few yes, and interestingly they would all be ones I read as a teen and then had to re find as an adult. Sweet pony stories of one sort or another  There are probably some grown up books I love too |

Same, my most valued are first editions from my early teens. I fell in love with stories (and authors) far deeper than I do now, and I’ve never forgotten the way those books made me feel x |

Same, my most valued are first editions from my early teens. I fell in love with stories (and authors) far deeper than I do now, and I’ve never forgotten the way those books made me feel x"

I'm glad to read this. I'm definitely better at the former than the latter, but the act of browsing a bookshop and buying a book I have little time to read is fun in itself... |

I have friends/ family who want to give me books - I direct them to book tokens and buy from bookshop dot org. (Not an ad) You choose an independent book store you want to support and a percentage of the proceeds go to them. |

I'm a hopeless case. I do read a lot but my book acquiring habit outpaces my reading. Too many good charity shops nearby that I can't resist along with a really nice friendly independent bookshop that I want to see succeed. The to be read pile is becoming insurmountable but it keeps me happy |
